I have photographs of s/n 8163 taken in the 1970's but they aren't digitized. Will see if I can find them.

One minor point on the video featuring s/n 8125: this car was delivered new to Italy(Pivetti) so the mileage quoted by Tom Cotter is actually in kilometers. It's reasonable to assume that the car has been around the clock once.

My friend was the previous owner of 08125 and sold it to the gentleman from NC. He also owned 08117 which is for sale at Fantasy Junction. I would be surprised if 08125 has been "around the clock" considering the mileage at the time that my friend owned the car in the 80s.

Great! If possible please ask him if he purchased the car in Italy or in the USA, thanks.

My friend bought it in the USA and he didn't live in CT as the video indicated, so that info is incorrect. But the current owner did drive the car to NC after purchasing it from my friend.

Based on the attached political lawn sign at :50 of the video, it appears that the car was found in Charlotte, NC. My friend lived in Rochester, NY when he sold it and the buyer drove it to NC after the sale.

According to Barchetta.cc 8163 lived in Youngstown, OH in 1973. There were TWO silver alloy 275 GTBs living in Youngstown since my father owned 8069 at the same time...anyone who has been to Youngstown will understand the irony

My friend bought 08125 in 1981 from Mark Tauber who was associated with The Stable in Gladstone, NJ. A previous owner had imported the car from Italy. He kept the car until 1984 when he sold it to the gentleman from North Carolina who flew to Rochester, NY and drove the car back to NC. As far as mileage, my friend says he thinks he put a couple thousand miles on the car during his ownership but can't recall the mileage at the time he acquired or sold it.

s/n 8069 has been consigned to the RM Sotheby's auction at Retromobile:

The perfect opportunity for you to re-acquire one of your Dad's old cars.
Thanks Peter. Last night I found a reference to the listing from The Stable from 07/81.

s/n 8163 was sold in the early 1980's by dealer Viviano Corradini (Milano, IT) to Elvidio Grande, Auto Palace(Pittsburgh, PA )who imported the car. It went from Auto Palace to Harvey Rice (Pittsburgh, PA)who traded it to a Mercedes dealer in 1973.

This was written in the 2011 Gooding Auction catalogue:

In the early 1970s, the Ferrari was exported to the US, where it was sold to Fred Denowitz of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In October 1973, Mr. and Mrs. Bitone of Youngstown, Ohio, decided to buy their son Robert the lightly used Ferrari 275, thinking it would be a strong incentive to finish college – a curious approach, to say the least.
After several years with Robert Bitone, control of the car was essentially given over to a close friend, in whose care it has remained for at least three decades.

I discussed this car with Mr. Grande today, he provided the version of events that I posted. Fred Danovitz was a frequent customer at Auto Palace in those years but he did not buy this car. Mr. Rice was the first US owner.

Too bad I never finished college ( joking) with such an incentive I would have had much better grades! I was thinking for a minute to sue posthumously my late parents

Most interesting how two different stories on the same subject co-exist. Thanks for your answer.

I contacted Cathy Roush at The Ferrari Market Letter to discuss s/n 08125 and to see if FML had a file on it. She graciously allowed me to share the file on FerrariChat.

Identified as 275 GTB Alloy. Destinazione Pivetti, Italy. Assembly sequence no. 315, body no. n/a. (H. Raab's Ferrari Serial Numbers Part I, 2nd ed.).
    Owned 1975 John Chamtray(Chantrey?) Melrose, MA.(FAF customer).
Offered 1981 Marc Tauber, Morristown, NJ/USA. Silver with blue interior. Two-owner history, very low mileage.
(FML 0615). Sold to Dan Rischenole, Rochester, NY/USA.
Offered 1985 Alan C. Shelton, Charlotte, NC/USA. Seen there 30 Mar 1985. Still silver with blue interior. Offered by him 1991. Classic silver with blue interior. Fresh engine and clutch. Engine compartment and mechanicals all gone through. Early paint and interior very clean. (FML 1605)

   -- I can't even being to imagine what I would have accomplished if I had that "incentive" in college -- but I do know it would have been a lot less.

Well played. All that's missing is a feature story in Octane.
