488 GTO ?

Concerning the topic on page 123, when I visited Maranello last year I also saw a R8 with test plates just outside the Ferrari factory, was a bit surprised.

I am in the same situation as you - waiting!!. Was really hoping to be told one way or another this week but it might be another week of staring at the phone

Ferrari regularly traded new models with Lamborghini. Typically each keeps the car for a month but sometimes longer...

to Read the entire thread was getting me more nervous day after day, at last they confirm me the allocation. A few hours later i received an invitation for the preview 20th , it will be at the dealer (lyon in france). not sure i will see the car, it s not clear at the moment, i am very happy.

If this is the VS then nothing left to the imagination but the rear which, if the other rear post was also the VS, then the surprise is pretty much over at this point. Of course with straight paint much better details but it is what it is. Its fine for a production vehicle but the LE Aperta is where you want to be on a 488 if at all.

Now the final NA LE Aperta F12 series mentioned earlier - that will be a much tougher allocation than the F12 TDF for sure. A collection centerpiece kind of Ferrari.

 

Plenty of surprises left with the 488 GTO.......I usually think that the camouflage they wrap cars in is a bit of a joke BUT I will admit that the 488 GTO is still tough to nail down. Ive been looking at all the pics and comparing them to the actual leaked pics. IMHO I'm going to have to see the car in full not a grainy leaked picture or camo wrapped.

I think the 488 GTO will be EXACTLY like the F12 TDF. Think of the F12 TDF wrapped in camouflage......There is still so much you can't see. At first sight the TDF and LaFerrari both took a "moment" too sit back and take them in. I'm sure the 488 GTO will be the same.

.......and thats just appearance. We don't even know HP/TQ figures yet and the best of all, track times!!!!

True - but (and with no disrespect whatsoever) that could also be said for 99% of the threads here period. Only difference is that this one has generated more interest and, I suspect it could be because this VS/GTO will shake the Ferrari world upside down with the performance envelope lol. So every one is keen to see where their Ferrari's sit in the pecking order of performance and how far they will fall down the ladder.

Finally... I am in.

I suggest we do a round the world photo posting of the Feb 20th event. Fun to see dealerships from all over the world dressed up for this « speciale event »

 

Congrats on all the folks that are in. Sad to say seems many of us are not. Waiting for your posts to update us. Does make this whole experience with Ferrari not very appealing when you are looking outside in. Haha!

 

I think this is a good shout - and hopefully will pay dividends if there is a further allocation.

 

Great pic. I love the hood of the Speciale. I must say, seeing what we've seen so far, the hood of the 488 VS is a major disappointment. I was really hoping for some duality (like you see on the F50 and Enzo). The way it just evenly vanishes into the bumper is just kind of odd. Speaking about the hood alone, I much prefer the one on the standard 488 GTB. Having said all of this, I'll reserve final judgement for when I see the car.
