Put Nicks ignition on my car a while back. Removed distributors and made a plate to cover the hole. I have trouble with them seeping oil. I think someone makes a plate to eliminate all dist parts and mounts and attach directly to the head. Thanks in advance for any help

Besides the oil thing - how do you like the new ignition? Any regrets doing it or is it a big two thumbs up?

superformance sells one... I don't know how well it works. I'm also interested in hearing how your xdi system is working. I'm considering it for my next upgrade.

you might also want to still get a gasket for the cap....

You definitely want to get good gaskets on those. I have a similar setup, no leaks there at all... looks nice & works well.

I had a digiplex go bad. I think over 600 for a used one. Then you still have caps rotors and wiring to deal with. I bought the kit, sold of old parts that paid for about 60% of the new stuff. Very good instructions. Great customer support. Other than oil leak no regrets. Added a couple pictures. In one if you look close under the idler pulley you see the sensor for the tone wheel. I actually have a Mondial so I put all the components in the trunk. The coils are mounted in pretty much the same place as to old coils. Ask Nick if he can't sell you a couple caps with gaskets. I bought some separately, but it seems to me I later found out that he had them. Worth a try.
Regarding the XDI itself, I love mine; worth every penny.

The car starts when you turn the key.
All joking aside, the original ignition system was focused more on meeting EPA regulations than providing a reliable car. When I first bought my car I had it into Grand Prix Motors (now Ferrari of Seattle) to have points replaced almost every-other week. After a a little more than a year of that crap I had another mechanic replace the points with Allison Opticals, and the car ran much, much better, but still with a rotor and cap and marginal coils. there was a definite difference between before and after a tune up. The XDI is just so much more precise, and it doesn't change week to week... I can even wash my car without loosing a bank.
You know how great it runs right after a tune up? Thats how it runs all the time now. I don't even change plugs on a regular basis.
    Good luck.

This is indeed the biggest benefit to these engines. 2v engines in particular really like tons of timing thrown at them by around 3500rpm. With distributors, it is not possible to balance the springs and weights in such a way that so much timing can be dialed in as they want. I just did one and the most I could get after hours and hours on a syncrograph was about 31-32 degrees at 3500. With an xdi I dial in 34 at 3000rpm and boy do they run well like that. That said, the car I just did has two MSD units and runs extremely well, but it took a massive amount of distributor fooling to get it there.
