The whole world will see it on Feb. 16th. I had the same impression, but with a messy angle and bad lighting it's really hard to say. I'll also reserve my final considerations when we'll get to see the first official shots.
At first it was said that it will be revealed in flesh to eligible customers in Maranello on the 20th. Then they said it will be shown at dealer showrooms on displays. Now some of you say it will be done on Feb. 16th. Which is it?
Private preview/event with customers at different dealers around the world. Car will shown on a screen, as discussed a few pages back (122-123, I think). I don't know anything about events at the factory, sorry.
Congratulations to all those who have had their applications agreed. For the rest of us, just chill, as not only will more allocations be made next week, but after that there will be later cars and after that the Aperta. Chances are most of us, certainly those qualified, which be successful at some stage. And then there's always the real LE......... I remember going through this on the tdf, no, yes, no and then finally YES. How can ferrari invoke such emotion in all of us?
Not to mention the V12 pipeline which will also be full of interesting and arguably more desirable stuff.
And that raises an interesting point. We know Ferrari are going to be producing not only more semi L E's and full LE's, but a longer run; the days of 499 Apertas is long gone. At what stage does the market get saturated and we are so flooded with choice the appeal wanes?
I don't know how to make the special characters other than the smiley face but if I could it would be the one with the head wagging and eyes rolling. Its a boosted car. I could care less what the numbers they decided on because the next one coming up soon will be greater like every other small engine turbo out there and with little effort. Pick a number.
Any idea what’s going on here? Looks like the body-in-white is the same as the 488 GTB but the sport sill is recessed. I would have thought that to be a retrograde aero step (less ground effect). So I’m wondering if it gives way to an underbody vent in an area that Ferrari has never done before. Could lead to something new in terms of the diffuser or rear of the car? 488 challenge/gt3 tricks...Ferrari has developed the last v8 mid non hybrid at its best, after this car and the LE Hybrid will arrive. Camouflage does not makes things clear, but rear floating deck diffuser is finally a real race inspired one. Predict 450 kg @ 250 km/h, similarly to koenigsegg REGERA.
You can see it better in the leaked photo. It clearly doesn't extend out as on the standard GTB, but I don't know if there will be something going on below there (combined aero effect between skirt, underbody and maybe even rear GTE-inspired vents). I know very little about these things...
Reading the transcript of the latest Ferrari earnings call they are seeking to double EBITDA to €2bil by 2022. We can look forward to a lot more LE. Marchionne has admitted also that the 10 year period between the halo supercars Enzo to LaF is too long given the technological changes. https://seekingalpha.com/article/4142411-ferraris-race-ceo-sergio-marchionne-q4-2017-results-earnings-call-transcript Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Some very interesting bits in there (The hypercar one, especially), so thanks a lot for sharing this. The Enzo was a 2003 vehicle and we launched the LaFerrari in 2013, so it is sitting on a decade cycle. But that's the past. I think we need to adapt to a new world. I don't know – this is almost blasphemous, but I think that the technology shifts between the Enzo and LaFerrari and the next car that's coming, they're so wide and there's whole notion I'm referring to as the supercars, and they really have to be time consistent. They have to be put in a time context because they do is – this stuff is moving too quickly. I mean, the performance – and I think we should already have this conversation in Geneva after we launch the next car. I think we're just start seeing the statistics, what's get revealed and when it gets revealed in Geneva, you'll realize that we're closing the gap between the supercars and the street cars pretty quickly. He also mentions a new car that should be unveiled in September, but I'm not sure what It is..
Can't be long before a 488 "gto" aperta or a 812 aperta rears its head. Will be interesting to see how history judges this period when the competition is hot and Ferrari are minting as many new regular cars, LEs, SUVs as they can.
Not sure. An Aperta announcement so soon? On a side note, Portofino is sold out for 2018, but Marchionne reckons they need to improve on the GTC side. ****** I'm going to give you some broad line suggestions as to how we got to the EUR2 billion. We're not doubling volumes, so we must be improving other mix of the industry utilization of the plant, it is established policy of disaster, we're trying to enrich the offering to the marketplace. And therefore, we're trying to improve our ability to extract margin from the businesses that we're currently carrying out, that something that continues into the plan. And therefore, I would have expect that – I would have expect the rational logically as a consequence of what I said personalization and pricing are both expected to improve over the midterm period. But that's just the way I look at it. You can draw your conclusion. The EUR2 billion is unmovable. Absolutely, it's staying right here. By the way, just to be clear, we have a body shop, which has historically been outside, but it belongs to us. It’s about 15 kilometers away from here, but it belongs to us. So there's no adjustment to the manufacturing footprint as such. There's improvements that we're making on the production lines, to debottleneck some parts of the operations. But fundamentally, we're adding shifts and just running the machine that we have today. ***** There's a big portion of the market, which has been unaccessible or where people have been unwilling to enter because of the demand associating with the performance vehicles. Some people feel uncomfortable in driving 800-horsepower machines, but it's something that is part of our DNA, which I think need to be reopen, rekindle, which has to do with the combination of Italian style, not just in terms of design, but in terms of interior finish and presentation and detail, which can live quite easily with our high performance engines, which are not living an extreme life. There's nothing wrong with a 600-horsepower engine because it certainly gives you enough performance, so try and enjoy the driving experience. That part of that equation of the customer base has been neglected. It's been neglected because we had a whole part of growth to go chase on the performance side. We need to rekindle this, and I think the – and hopefully, you'll see when you come to see us in September is that we've been active not only in maintaining the leading edge on performance but also developing this other part of the portfolio, which although it uses the existing physical and architectural infrastructure of Ferrari, it's capable of declining itself in a way which doesn't scare people. And so the new Portofino that you see is a first indication, first incarnation of that product portfolio and first indication, good, the car is sold out for 2018. In broad terms, the GTC4Lusso was the first – was another attempt at curing what was perhaps not so successful of a presentation as the FF was, but we're making progress. The next phase needs to be a lot more intense and I think it needs to be a lot more targeted at bringing in customers that have historically not been ours and certainly not in the last ten, fifteen years. ***** By the way, in some parts the transcription has been done quite poorly, to be really honest..some sentences do not make sense.
I know that he is not answering one of my rants directly, but it certainly addresses exactly something I said about these ridiculous horsepower wars and leading the way building the most beautiful and engaging Italian cars in the World.
