I don't think that 10 years is too long between halo cars. It takes quite sometime to develop these new technological feats. Plus in those 10 years, the advancement filter down to the Ferrari models below the Halo..........hence why it doesn't take many years for the halo car to be beaten in performance by a special edition/Limited edition Ferraris. Its actually a compliment to the halo car.......the master being surpassed by the student.

I have a hunch that the last the 812 VS will be the end of a Ferrari era and will be look upon as one of the best eras. 430 Scuderia, 458 Special, 599 GTO, F12 TDF, 812 VS, Enzo and Laferrari will all be part of that legendary era.

Not willing to continue what appears to be a digression - but still doing it... I think what may make sense as a new car unveiled in September, consistent with some things I understand from Marchionne's talk, would be a sports car derived from the Portofino. Currently the Portofino is a GT, a sports version would illustrate the fact that being sporty is not only about power. And actually target new customers for Ferrari.

Ferrari won't outdo its own LaFerrari. Also, I don't believe Koenigsegg's claims. Their cars are dragsters but not track masters.

Marchionne hasn't got a clue about engineering though. The engineers have said that the next halo car will be made when the technology will have moved sufficiently from LaFerrari's technical era. We are still some 5 years away from that I reckon.

You know what no-one has even mentioned........Why hasn't Ferrari released any teasers or trailers about the upcoming 488 GTO. Remember when the 488 GTB came out and they had the videos stating the date of release and "Words are not enough" with sound bites.

Maybe because its a low volume Special Edition. Just seems weird because on their social media page they are always posting up videos of the 488 GTB and other Ferraris promoting them as if they had just been released

So I got a call from my dealer last night while at dinner...

To be honest have been MIA from the forum and any real intel on this "VS" model (been dealing with the remodel of my home, and for those of you who have been through this process you understand how it can just consume your life)

Anyway, my dealer informed me that they had a meeting yesterday and I am getting this new 488, as you all refer to it as the "VS" model. He did mention the actual name? It started with the letter P.... Some itallian word that translate into something... I know, not really giving you all the info I want to, but I had a few Yamazakis in the system when on the call and really have a hard time recalling what the name is right now.

Also he did mention to me that there will be no LE 488.... I don't quite sure if I am suppose to believe this? But as I have read the last 15 pages of this thread, it seems that some of you have insider knowledge that there will be one or even two LE 488 to be released? Can someone please expand upon this?

Just as a side note, I have not received the invitation for this video preview on the 20th, but I also just received the call last night. I also have owned a 488GTB, the previous 458 Speciale and still own my Speciale Aperta along with some other Ferrari products.

An "educated guess" for an Italian name beginning with "P" could be "Pista"... :)

488 VS Aperta allocations are already out there and the 812 Aperta is due next year. I believe neither model will be LE.

I think there is a very high risk of that happening. Prices are already heading lower (which is a healthy thing) across the board. The prices I am being offered now in Europe for everything from 599GTO, to 599 Aperta, even LaF Coupe and Aperta are below the highs of 2016 and early 2017. The only Ferrari that looks firm at the moment is the F50 and I think they deserve the attention...Financial assets are looking like they might correct lower and this may indicate that the world is returning to more normal levels (not necessarily crashing). This is not the time to flood the market with Limited Editions...I never buy cars as investments, so as long as one buys what one likes this is all good. I think Ferrari will make lots of great cars in the next 3 years and I hope the new hypercar comes sooner than 2023, but I sincerely hope they don’t try to do 10 new cars in 3 years like McLaren!

I never said it will outdo LaF, but will be last non hybrid v8 generation, a real beast, even with 450 kg at 250 km/h would be a pretty road car. LAF gets 360 kg at 200 km/h, has efficiency almost equal to 3, so the difference is clear, but electronics, weight and new tricks will make the 488 Vs very fast, surely faster than TDF around Fiorano. Read carefully what Sergio said, they're really clsoing the gap between Supercars and road cars :))
Koenigsegg are best hypercar makers on par with Pagani, a sort of Sweden Pagani, but they produce internally almost everything, from the engine to the gearbox, aero flicks, canards, suspension and carbon rims, with many patented solutions. They are masters, putting in ridicolus Bugatti elephants. Look at the One:1, I believe to its 610 kg @ 260 km/h, Mecca can do that on P1, they can do even more...Maximum respect for this little entreprenur firm.

So they anticipate 812 VS also, or just a normal aperta without performance increase?? I think i will come in 2020, like TDF 2015 after f12 2012, But maybe new pollution rules obliges Ferrari to speed up product cycle.

Pagani you say? What's great about those garish things? They don't even build their own engines; at least the Swedes do. At any rate, Koenig-somethings are straight line Kings, but that's it really.

Scuderia in italian sound beautifully, Team is literally Squadra, Scuderia is something beyond, on a Ferrari is superb name.
Pista is silly and childish. as the only track 488 are 488 gt3 and gte. :))

Pagani are master in body carbon titanium construction, aerodynamics and very strange but uniquely crafted interiors. Koenigsegg are straight drag strip kings, sure, but in reality, all people think they're bad in curves just because they are too fast and overpowered for their chassis. But if you remember to brake a lot earlier from 400 km/h you can take the apexes perfectly like in every supercar and be fast on bends and magafast on straights. They are not Bugattis :) If you drive an 812/LAF like a 458 you will say: this thing is really fast on straight but cannot take a bend...in reality you have to adapt the brain to the huge speed achieved, huge speed means brake earlier than what you're used with a 458 or similar supercars.

Anyway, my Love goes first and foremost to the Prancing Horse.

Agreed. And then there are names like Passione, Piuma, Potenza etc., that are even worse in my opinion.
