Too many VIP clients in my dealership that want the latest and greatest so I've been bumped, the dealer has 28 cars allocated to them as well!!, I'll just wait and see how many go for sale in the same dealership 6 months after they are delivered with no mileage on them......

Spoke to my local dealer and they received 6 allocations for the 488 "GTO". Obviously they are all spoken for. Will be interesting to see if they release more once production commences as some have suggested.

If the past is a guide they will continue to produce the 488 and Spider. The special version won’t be for everyone - both in form and comfort (or lack there of) and price which will be a significant hike on the 488

Only $5K here in Chicago....... $50K is absurd and even $20K is over the top and totally unnecessary. Just the dealership using your money for free.

Well there’ll be loads of us joining you without one too.... if your purchase history with your dealer doesn’t make the cut then limited prospects of getting one for those with lesser history. I wonder how Ferrari try and ensure some measure of consistency of treatment between customers of different dealerships in the same country, if at all?

Like others have said elsewhere there may be additional allocation later once order books firm up (or not) and they assess where to allocate production volumes between the models.

Oh, and let’s see the fully loaded pricing too. Once you add on all the costs for the carbon bits, especially the wheels, it may take the price out of their range for some potential interested customers.

We will know all shortly and things will start to become a lot clearer!!

This allocations discussion is both tedious and off topic. This thread is supposed to be about the actual car!

The one guy that came up with quite a lot of what seemed to be genuine information ...appears to have totally disappeared... fer900,or something like that.

He posted some concrete numbers 2700 VS plus 1600 Aperta. Slapped down by by the factory /dealer?

Yes, I think the will I get one won't I get one theme is a masterpiece of marketing strategy for Ferrari and the dealers.....firms things up and increases the hype....and prepares the 'lucky' ones for a desired minimum spec....;-)

    Hi guys,

I am here. I am reading all posts....more or less!
The numbers that I have, +- 4.500 cars in total, are simply coming for F as budget. Since we produce some mecatronics components for this car (one of them you use almost every single moment), we knew this number from the beginning of the project. I guess all suppliers have same numbers. There is no speculation, but it is also possible that numbers could change in the coming weeks.....we will see, it will be no the first time!!
For sure the production of standard 488 will continue as for sure F already start to work on the future generation/platform....this is normal!

Now being F suppliers doesn’t give any priority or short cut for allocation.....likely....so I went to my dealer where I bought my tailor-made 488 spider and I gave a deposit of 20k eur and I still waiting the confirmation or money back. He confirmed that on Feb 20 there will be a virtual presentation at the dealer. Btw he got 9 cars but he expected to have more....

About the name.....nobody in F know or they don’t tell......and this in my opinion is good!

    Ciao

i can‘t see the reason why they should stop production of GTB and Spider within 2018. or before they finish also the GTO and Aperta.

maybe a couple of months. but not years... what some in here are thinking. and writing...

Thank you very much for the "official" info: and then people here have to consider that 4500 are just the estimate plan of the production they did in advance, so if there will be much more orders, they will probably increase them (of course), as we all knows this is NOT a limited production car.

The number of the first round available allocations is so high (40 cars in a GB dealership, 28 cars in another USA dealership) that I think this car will be produced in more units than the 328 GTS (6k+ units)

    ciao

    Edit:
People usually believe more the bullsh@ts than the truth

Whatever the allocation number is, this car is going to be a milestone in Ferrari range. Can't wait for the 16th

They stop the GTB and Spider model production for two reasons. First they only have so much production capacity so they build more of the more expensive VS models instead of the less profitable GTB and Spider. Second the lack of GTB and Spider inventory will create pent up demand for the replacement version 408 when it appears later...

Who knows when it comes to volume, but I think your estimates are too high. Other dealer allocations in UK - 5 and 12 are two other main dealers. The 40 dealer is London dealer and by far the biggest. He is the only one like that. Current allocation seems more in line with CS volumes (113 UK cars). I would have thought there will be another allocation round but the way dealers are talking that does not seem certain. They are prepared to annoy some VERY good customers by refusing them a car. This could be lower than expectation.

That's what I was thinking. Some people talk about high numbers and then others are not happy about being left out.
There's something wrong, unless, as @Traveller said, there will be different batches and allocations in the future.

lets try it based on the ratio to normal sold ferraris.

i know of a dealer group which should get 11x 488VS. they are selling 90 cars a year.

you do not ask for the price of a part / for an offer of it - and underestimating the needed volume. :)
the 4.500 are no. of cars and not no. of parts where maybe two of them are needed for each car.? i guess not.

the slide showed 5.500 potential customers. but it could be that there where still the multible fitting customers in - everytime counted.

    anyhow...

my feeling says 2.500pcs over 2 years. because of the amount of people which do not get one.
