I thought a condition of the sale of this car was that it be Classiche Certified, a condition of which is that it be a fully functioning car?

I'm sorry but I don't get it. It's... a dirty Daytona. So what?

Sorry that is not a barn find. Yes, I know the story but it's just an abused car.

Yes, if patina = neglect. Patina is the sign of a car that has aged in use by a loving owner(s). That is a car that has been left, unloved, to rot. It should be a criminal offence.

Meh, it doesn't have the original air in the tires, not really a barn find.

Curiousity question. As a very early Italian market car shouldn't this car have (or maybe originally had) white/ orange indicators rather than all orange ones? The plexi front works much better with the white/ orange one IMHO.

You can drive your car 1000 miles a year for 20 years, take care of every detail, maintain it, and sell it for " X "

    or

You can leave your car outside for 20 years with the windows down until it's covered in mud, dust and every piece of leather and plastic rots, every piece of chrome pits, and the body rusts and sell it for " X + Y "

Only in Ferrari La La Land.

Yes, completely absurd. And not only in Ferrari La La Land either - Aston, Bentley, etc., etc.. I have to say that I think anyone who buys a so-called "barn-find" for an inflated price needs his head examined. Give me a nice, well-used example, or an already restored car, any day of the week. Having said that, I am glad there are such people around, or wrecks like this wouldn't get back on the road, but why they should have to pay a premium for them defies all logic. Then again, I guess there is nothing much logical about driving around in old cars!

What is the ball park estimate to bring that Daytona back to life, close to Concours level?

    $ 300K+?

Why even display it like this?? Once you rinse off all that dirt you might have an interesting "patina" underneath, but as far as I'm concerned, 30 years of dust just aint' sexy....

Oh, I get it! It must be worth more because it has a "vintage" aftermarket AC unit stuck in it!

Seriously people -- this is getting absurd.

It's a found piece of, reasonable rare, history that can be saved and restored. Creative folks see the potential :)

Not only is it not a criminal offense (in practice), the market "value" equation is the opposite: "neglect" amplifies value, while patina from proper use sharply decreases value. It's a strange world we live in.

    Define "rare".

If someone today found a dirty 1999 360 in a garage somewhere left there since new, would that be "a barn find"?

    Or just an abused car...

You are comparing a 360 to a Daytona coupe? /headscratch/

My point is 10 years ago this car would be just another piece of junk and today it's celebrated as "a glorious barn find!"

    Silly.
