Last March I purchased the 348 that was featured in an article written by Doug DeMuro “The Cheapest Ferrari on Autotrader Costs $20,000.” I reached out to Doug a few weeks ago to give my experience of being a new Ferrari owner and a costly mistake I made from the beginning and an update of where I am now with the car. I wanted to mention this forum has been a wealth of information as well as those that have responded to my posts being very helpful. This has helped me with still being excited about owning a Ferrari.

That's interesting. I'm sorry it ended up costing you so much. I hope once you get it home from FoA, you will have many happy and trouble-free miles. :)

As long as you went in eyes wide open, and now you're enjoying it, it's all good! Enjoy in good health and there's nothing like a Ferrari brought back to tip-top shape.

The independent mechanic’s screw up cost is unrelated to owning a “cheap” Ferrari. The screw up could have happened to the best example out there and it does happen regularly. Its incompetent mechanics that give these cars a bad name.

...and dodgy dealers out for a quick buck!

Thanks for posting about your experience. Its always hard to admit the F*ups one experiences along the way, but they are great cars to drive, so I hope you have many happy miles in her.

Great post, would love to hear the details on what we're the things the independent botched on the major service?

Congrats, you'll have a huge grin in no time!

Oh boy I remember your thread about the engine out (from the top) service. Makes me shudder thinking about it.

I’ve definitely being schooled on owning one. But, it’s looking like I should have it back this week or next. Man I can’t wait [emoji4]

Engine out from the top? Is that even possible? There are no lifting points on the top....

    I was wondering that myself.

The car is designed in a way for the engine to come out of the bottom, not the top. Why people try and re-invent the wheel is beyond my comprehension.

Im waiting for someone to try and replace the tires while the rims are still mounted on the car. Similar to when they try to do an engine-out service without removing the engine.

Far more feasible than engine out from the top, or replacing a tire while the rim is still mounted.
Although, on second thought, don't the 308 guys have to remove from the top?

As for sex with clothes on, it just requires both parties to provide a little access.

    Wrong again.

Impossible to have sex with clothes on.

I think these guys could manage the tire change and maybe even pulling the engine out from above.

Closing this Chapter: Well my 348 made it back. FINALLY! I went up to Atlanta a few days ago and did a test drive after Ferrari of Atlanta finished up. Kudos to the service department, I can’t say enough good things about those guys.

It’s been delivered back home. Compared to 11 months ago when I first test drove then bought the 348 it runs so much better than I can recall and I don’t remember the exhaust(stock) sounding so sweet.

I’ve said it before, but it’s worth saying again that I appreciate the information I’ve read on this Forum and the replies from the many when I’ve had a question.

Now I look forward to many miles of driving and enjoyment.

Zoom in. It’s not, just has single outlet exhausts. So not a stock exhaust.

Previous owner removed one of the mufflers. I like the quad tip look better than the single tips on each side. At least the ones on there now, They look puny so I’ll be adding some new tips.
