You must've missed the nugget from the analyst who looked at ferrari's financial statements and basically said that ferrari is becoming more reliant on special models to increase revenue/profitability. The Laferrari Aperta was the example which was referenced in that analysis. I'd expect to see shorter model runs now and in the future from all the exotic car makers. Not enough demand for the same car for many years.
i don‘t want to play the grinch. but online presentation meaning high res pictures and infos will be on 16th Feb i guess / read in here. because premiere on 20/21th in front of hundreds or thousands around the globe would not create the quality, in phone pics and further within the www, as Ferrari wants to have it. just thinking...
FWIW the dealer here also told me the Feb 20 preview is only for those receiving initial allocations. I have not even made an application for an allocation so no invite. They offered to grant me access to the stand at Geneva. I declined. I am interested to wait for pricing and other details before making any commitment.
I love how they stuck the dotted "camo" just on the diffuser fins, not the flat surface..really hidden , just accentuates the diffuser fins...pure Italian theater. Hilarious.
JMHO, as this is all subjective. But never liked the stripes at all, but I assume you can order without the stripes. Otherwise looks like they generally made changes similar to the way they transformed the 458 to the Speciale. It's got that sharper edge look. I'm sure it's fast and awesome, but style wise I prefer the regular version of the 458 and 488 (more os the 458). GTO and Speciale lose some of the beauty/finesse in the clean lines. The front spoiler start to trend toward the crazy star wars looking stuff that Lambo does. This front end looks like they added a shovel for winter driving. I don't want a tractor but a street sports car. ;-)
Maybe but there is the right way and the wrong way to do this. Porsche do it well, McLaren do it very poorly
I don't think so. Mclaren is still developing their customer base. They don't have five years to sell the same model. Not enough customers for a 720s coupe for five years. Just anectodal information from my observations from these forums and what I see outside these forums: Starting around last september a customer could walk into most dealers in the States having never bought a Ferrari before and spec a 488 and get it in about five months. Looks like the 488 spider is in the same situation now. At many of the established mclaren dealers in the states back in September you would have been on a waiting list for 720s and waiting for an allocation. Right now if someone walks into a mclaren dealer it will take about 5 to 6 months to get delivery of 720s. 488 took about 1.5 years for a new customer to get a 5 month wait. Not enough demand for a five year run of a 488 (nothing about the car as it is a great car. just lots of choices now for people). 720s has about one year of customer orders then will tail off a bit (imo). Now a days; I don't see why a person would even want to wait for two years to get a non limited car from any marquee. In the mean time one of the other marquees will come out with a later/greater car and people will start to shift to availability rather then allegiance to a particular marquee. (imo).
Hopefully by then they can find a new designer to fix the face and, sort out the terribly claustrophobic foot-well. 720 looks terrible imho!. Anyway this is a thread related to GTO ....much better car and brand....and good looking!!
a fix rear wing can be light. huge carbon wing blade ala Porsche RS or ACR E: 2-3kg both supports: 1kg = downforce of above 250kg @250kph possible - 250kg just from the rear wing. but i think i´m alone in here as fanboy of fixed rear winged cars.
I admire the work they do at Ferrari, few know how to combine harmony of lines and form, linked to the aerodynamic function.
Congrats - I also got the call from my dealer a few days ago confirming my car allocations and email for preview ....
I s I agree - on all your points there ! I was told a few days ago of my allocation then received the email invite for the viewing -as you say , 21st at my UK dealer....
