btw did you go aftermarket headers? (i hope). Tubi headers with highflow cats and CS exhaust wld be DIVINE.

I don't understand aftermarket headers. Nobody has been able to explain it to me. How do they delete the pre-cat and not get a CEL? Stock headers w/o a pre-cat give a CEL that can't be fixed.

So, I got a stock pair with 2K miles on them and plan to replace them before they have 15K. I also don't understand what makes the pre-cat break down. Humidity? H2O condensation?

Seems like a climate controlled garage like mine should keep them okay, but I just don't know.

    at least in my experience:
on both the 355 and 430, the oem headers crack and the oem cats build and trap alot of heat which puts pressure on the headers.
on my 430 i have capristo headers with capristo hiflow cats and stock mufflers. no CEL.
on my 95 (obd1) 355 i have tubi headers, tubi down pipes and tubi mufflers and i have no CEL.
on my CS i have all oem exhaust but i dont drive the car much.
on my 01 360 i had tubi headers and cant remember which hiflow cats with tubi mufflers and i had no CEL.

I'd have to know why no CEL, but that's good.

Yeah I’m so confused about headers :( I don’t know what I’m going to do when mine start having problems. Fortunately I’m only at 18k and my tech says I probably won’t start having troubles until at least 30k.

I had the same concerns, then my right side header started failing (diagnosed when my car was in for service). I was concerned also about CEL since I live in California and have to pass a pretty strict smog. I switched to Fabspeed headers and O2 spacers with mini catalytic converters. The spacers resolve the precat in the OEM headers. No CEL.

I'm going to look into this header thing thoroughly for the sake of the community. No reason we should have to put up with either a ticking time bomb or a CEL. That sounds like a good solution. Will it work with my Challenge Stradale valved exhaust? If so, I'm going to go that route.

Sun came out today, so I finally got to experience the sunroof. Very nice! Hearing the engine better is a plus. Funny thing is, at 40 MPH a deep hum sets in that is very loud. It's the same effect as blowing over the lip of a bottle, but below audible. Your ears just feel the pressure cycles. Cracking a window just 1/4" solves it, and at 80, no problem. :)

I saw a yellow sunroof manual 360 with 25k at ***************** in Atlanta in June 2017. It is still on their website as SOLD. Same car ? I purchased a blue 360F1 from them in June.

I have stock headers on my 2002 3-pedal Modena with 15k miles, and I don't plan to do anything about headers until they fail - don't fix what ain't broken IMO. If they fail I will address it, but until then they stay. I think the "problem" is heavily exaggerated much to the benefit of aftermarket header manufacturers/vendors - you have people replacing perfectly good headers out of fear. And, I don't like aftermarket headers where you have to fudge with O2 extenders to try avoid, and still pray you won't be getting a CEL. Besides, they are all illegal in CA, and smog stations should, and some do, check with visual inspection.

Common issue for cars not designed for T-tops and sunroofs. Air pressure builds up in cockpit and cannot properly escape until you crack the window.
In a properly designed T-top or sunroof car, there will be a check valve (flap) in the interior to allow the incoming air to escape to the exterior avoiding any pressure buildup.

Keith, did you buy the TdF blue Spider that Merlin had? If so, I had almost purchased that car. I ended up with the Giallo Spider Motorcars of Georgia had for sale with 12k miles.

Imperfect solution. There are many places a vent could be added unnoticeably. I like these kinds of things.

So, after a month and a half of shakedown runs, I suddenly had an actual failure (Not just the cat code CEL). The car started up on one bank and intermittent throttle response. Someone up there likes me, because it happened in my garage as I was starting up to take her out: Bad ignition coil and throttle motor. About a grand to fix.

Nice to get two things out of the way at the same time. :)

i'm beginning to think that when i actually get around to doing my spark plugs that i should just throw on 8 new coils as well since a lot of people have been having issues with them and eventual misfires

Do all the coils at the same time. They can be had for about 40 bucks apiece so no reason not to.
