Me too, V6 are good for Alfa and, at most, little Maserati. It's not only about performances, it's about heritage and prestige. PS I want a V8 TT Ghibli with 560 PS as the CALI T!!!
I AM ENVIOUS - wish I was there with a glass in hand! I can only hope the Shadowfax pino is a memorable drop!. The best way way to wait out the preview!!
Back on topic; why are there so many peope worried about the future? How many times in the previous 70 years have we been disappointed by the next generation? I'm taking my chances here saying that we won't be disappointed. V12, V8, V6, V4. These have all been in Formula 1 cars. In fact the highest HP F1 cars were with the 4 cilinder turbo engines. Ye,s I do love my V12 and V8's, but one can't stop progress. That is both sad and a blessing at the same time. As long as we're not forced to sell the cars we love and drive now/tomorrow, we're in good shape. My allocation is confirmed for the Special Series. Probably another keeper with the 812.
Ferrari is able, with wisdom, to combine technical and progress needs, with emotions and harmony. At Mclaren no, very high technical value, but much less harmony. Mclaren Senna could be based on a thesis on aerodynamics, but there is no harmony of form, only aerodynamic function.
Just throwing a few suggestions around. By the way, some still think LaFerrari's name is a joke (I do like it), so they probably would be perfectly ok with those. I also didn't know Furia was Forghieri's nickname: learning something new every day is such a beautiful thing.
Agreed. Although off topic, good place to talk about future iterations of the iconic "small" mid-engine Ferrari since everyone is here waiting for the main course (488 Challenge Stradale ;-) to be served. We have the wine ;-) and everyone is just getting into the casual conversation.
And even the aero hype is more a thesis on marketing. Anybody can stick a big honking wing at the back (and an ugly, massive looking one at that) to get big downforce and apologize for making an ugly car by saying it's "functional". The magic of good design is to make something functional look good. This is where Ferrari need to exploit their history and experience to differentiate themselves from the crowd.
Sounds like they have something special on their hands. If that's the case they should optimize the installation (weight and aero) on the next car with this smaller engine. Offering a V8 option would only compromise the design. If they choose the proper V-angle (not like what the current F1 rules impose on the engine designers) a V-6 turbo can sound pretty good. I know the 80's F1 turbo 6s did.
The 16th is the media reveal date - I assume the client live stream has more detail on the 20th/21st.
I'm starting to appreciate it and understand how It will look like, despite all the camo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
A glimpse at many details! https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10155922307396970 At 0:28-0:29, it seems there are some 812-inspired vents above the wheels.
Purely a personal observation, but yuck. Reminds me of the Chevrolet Monza I had to buy when I totaled my X1/9.
