I have a 2001 360 f1 with 8,000 miles on it all fluids and service was just performed in August . The car has run flawlessly since . No popping out of gear , or problems shifting . I took the car out for a joy ride yesterday all was great . I backed the car in my garage and shut it off . I realized I needed to back up a bit more for my garage door to close . Now this is when the problem arises, turn key on f1 pump goes on as normal but the “N” is flashing on the dash , check ok comes on but cannot start the car . F1 pump is running fine . But when I try to put it in neutral I hear some type of motor running and no gearbox change sound . Almost like the shifter is stuck . I can push the car but I hear a clicking sound coming from the tram axle area . Clutch wear was at 67 percent in August . Again there have been no other issues till this happened. Any ideas would be great. Brake switch is fine , I’m runnIng the fuse is also fine for f1 pump . With key foward when I try to start I hear a humming or motor running but no gear changes at heard just a humming sound (not the f1 pump either that’s running fine )

Still trying to figure it out . Tried all the usual stuff like battery , fuses etc. seems like it might be a engagement solenoid . Going to get at it again in a few days . Was hoping someone on this forum would have some more ideas

Interestingly, the owner's manual says, in the section on "Starting the Engine" : "Check to ensure that the engaged gear display indicates 'N' and that the later is not flashing." But I haven't found a section that says what it means when it IS flashing.

Had the car looked at by Vinny over at Auto- Elite. Turned out to be some bad grounds .
Vinny is a top notch guy and great to deal with.
Glad I found a new shop to keep my 360 purring .

If you like taking care of these cars, you need a diagnostic tool. They are critical.
