I went a few times and really enjoyed the venue and the history. plus, living in STL at the time, I didn't have to mess around with flights or hotels-just wake up early, drive to the track, watch the race, drive home it's a shame it didn't last, but I guess that was inevitable, particularly after the tire debacle in '06.

2001 Indy, my son still in college and I. End of front straight on Saturday practice, screaming v10s on full throttle from last turn down the front straight. most impressive, the longest time at full throttle at any track that season. I was at Monza 2016, the sound terrible!!

 

Went in 2004. Wasn't old enough to rent a car so had to taxi everywhere. Racing good, girls meh. Got sunburned really bad because were stupid. Had seats right near the start-finish line which was both the greatest and the worst at the same time.

Met a lot of the drivers and got a lot of autographs. Seeing Minardi score a point was awesome.

 

The 275 GTB is one of my favorites!

 

4 cam......has to be the 4 cam for me.

 

I bought 10707 from its longtime SoCal owner M.K. during the early-1990s.m It was then owned TWICE by well-known Ferrari collector C.W. during the 1990s. Acquired by current owner M.G. at 2002 Christie's Pebble Beach (i.e. M.G. used to be domiciled in Indianapolis). 10707 is one of the nicest, most original 4Cams extant.

 

I have to dig up some pics, but I tell you now... I'll NEVER but Michelin tires.

 

I emphatically agree, a terrific original car. I've been tracking it since the late 1980's.

Ah the memories Rob... I need to dig into my archives and post some images from Indy. Lots of good times meeting up with you and several other F-chatters at the race and around town.

 

I was in T-1 with the family from 2004-2007 for the the best of times and the worst of times (2005). Wish the race could come back to Indy for the history there if nothing else.
