So, just got back from Italy. Did the factory tour - it was awesome. Just amazing, and very informative. We stayed in Florence, so we took 2 trains then a taxi. Taxi was about 30 euros each way - took about half an hour. Trains from Florence were about 1:30 ride. Looks like a small town, so don't know how much more there is to do at night. Anyways, doing the train thing made for a long day, but was well worth it. I can see how it would be nicer to have stayed there for a day or two. Our tour lasted 3 hours total. The tour guide said that "one" can rent the house in the middle of the track, but I don't know what the requirements are, nor do I know how much it costs.

As a side note, I made 2 mistakes while there that you guys should learn from. I guess I should have done more research prior to going, but it is what it is. We got there about 1 hour before the tour, so I figure see the museum. I told the lady at reception that we were there for the tour in an hour, and asked where the museum was. She pointed us in the right direction. We got there, and I told the lady at the museum that we were going to do the factory tour in about an hour, she said ok, and we paid 15 euros each for admission to the museum. Then we bought some stuff at the store.

Well, FYI, and learn from my mistakes, that you get FREE admission to the museum towards the end of the tour (you get to spend about 20 minutes there). ALSO, after the museum, you go to the store, and you get 20% off merchandise. So don't do it backwards like me, and save some cash. It kindof irks me that I told the lady at reception and the one at the museum entrance that we were going to do the factory tour in about an hour, and neither said anything. You think they could have warned us. Also, I only bought a few things, so I wasn't out a large amount of cash minus the 20% savings, but it would have still been good to know.

Overall, still loved the tour, would highly recommend.

After the factory tour you also get free admission to the Ferrari Museum in Modena. Enzo's home, turned into a museum. There is a shuttle bus (12 kilometers) from Marranello and Modena till 4:30. Also you can visit the Cavalino restaurant across from the factory.

We were there last year. We had a house outside Florence so we drove, I allowed 2 hours but only took about 1 hour 15... Fiat 500 XL... but parking is a PITA around the factory. so finally we just parked at the museum and walked to the factory.

I would have loved to have stayed the night, and done all the shops etc... so that is next time. we had a blow out lunch at Cavallino... food - so so, service - terrible, but atmosphere - 1000%. its a trip of a life time for sure.

I'd like to take my two young sons, age 14 and 9. Are there age restrictions?

    Post #36 for future reference:

This is a firmly enforced rule with no wiggle room, so plan for something for the kids to do before your get there.

The tour takes you very close to the assembly activities and to try to control children in this case would be a distraction that would be difficult and dangerous.

I took the tour this past September. Wife and I had personal tour, other couple didn't show up. Stayed overnight at the Planet Hotel across the street from the factory. 100 euro, I thought was very reasonable. Much better than the Hotel in Modena for more money. Took the shuttle between Modena and Maranello to view both museums. ( free if you take tour has to be same day). I also went to an Italian car show in Modena fair grounds two weeks later. Very interesting car show and swap meet. Watched the F1 race at Monza in Sept.

I was in Florence last month and got my dealer to arrange a last minute tour while I was there. FNA had to jump through hoops and find me an open slot. I cant say enough about the tour, the town and the bucket list item being checked off! Hats off to Ferrari, they have a great tour that puts you in the middle of the action on the floor and really allows you to experience what Ferrari is all about.

Contact your dealer and they should be able to arrange it all for you.

Take a look for any of the numerous previous threads about things to do in the area eg Casa Enzo / restaurants / Museum - search on former in this section should help

There's also other threads with advice comments etc about factory tours including one earlier this week

You need about 3 month prior arrangement. Remember Italy goes on vacation in August!

    Are you in the USA?

If so, your dealer will have to coordinate a tour with FNA. (They have to verify your ownership)

And use the search function here for sure (this has been discussed with good recommendations many times)

We went last September on the weekend of the 70th birthday celebration.... It was amazing... Just as mentioned the dealership contacted Ferrari North America who set up a couple date choices. We took the original letter they sent with us for entry. It was great!

I'd heartily and without hesitation recommend the Maranello Palace Hotel ... Fairly priced, a great room and breakfast.

    Taken from our room ....

It's generally you and one guest only, and nobody under 16 (?) years of age.

Also, don't do what I did and purchase something at the Ferrari Store while waiting for the tour to begin, because at the end of the tour they drop you off at the Store and give you a discount voucher, I think you get 20% off.

I called Ferrari North America in NJ. They arranged 3 tours for me in Maranello. Once, they had no English speaker available, but I got by on s combination of my high school Italian and my grandfathers dialect that he taught me.

Ours was immediate family members and I don't recall a limit but I did mention to them it was only 3 of us. Age 14 and older with ID (you of course will have passports) and closed shoes.

Someone we knew had mentioned "business casual light" so it was khaki's and top siders for the group. It was very enjoyable and you go to the museum after the tour. Then as previously mentioned to the store.

We also had several great meals.... I'll see if I have the names and post .... In one it was all locals and many folks on lunch break from the Ferrari Factory. It was unbelievable and I recall the bill for 3 was around 36 euros..... Was less than 4 minutes from the Maranello Palace Hotel ...

I had no enforced limit, that I was told of, regarding the number of people that could go on the tour with me. But my daughter was under the allowable age, so she and my wife spent the afternoon in Modena.

When I went in 2016 the minimum age was 16 and I think they would have otherwise allowed my wife, my 2 children and I. They waited in Modena and had a great time going around, the tour is very well done and good luck not buying anything in the store afterwards! They should put an actual Ferrari dealership there as well, they might sell many more cars this way! :)
