Has anyone tried to get allocation and been refused? Just curious how hard it is as I was just given one but it will be mid to late 19'. I was planning to get the 750 LT for sure so not sure what I am going to do with all these cars but figure you cant go wrong with either. I will know more this week.

3 months ago the dealers sent the list to Ferrari. 10 days ago Ferrari provided list of allocations to dealers. All those who have allocation have been contacted by dealers. All 488 Pista are already "sold-out". To hope for those who give up ....

I heard that as well but it looks like I will be able to get one so I am going to put a deposit this week. I already know the color and and options I want. :)

Can you give a brief summary of your buying history with your Ferrari dealer?

That is probably the best way to identify anyone who was "unexpectedly" refused.

I would 100% get refused but it's no surprise since I have little history with my local dealer.

It would not surprise me if everyone who is going to get one already knows they have a good chance to get one. The dealers had lists for quite a while just waiting for the FNA allocations, which is the great secret no one knows.

Most dealers I'm sure have more requests than cars available.

The one thing for sure... allocations can change over time. Ferrari wants to sell cars so I wouldn't be surprised if over time more magically become available. But it will still be from the most loyal buyers first list.

And, the dealers already have a pretty good idea who will get the limited Aperta version once they get their allocation of those also. I'm assuming all of those will come from Pista trade-ins or better.

Not to nit pick so soon but are you sure the Aperta will be limited/LE? As I’ve understand it will not be limited

I have bought a few cars from them as well as from other dealers. I have a good relationship but honestly never inquired about the Pista until this past week, I figured there was no chance but there seems to be. I will know more this week. I am not too excited just yet, I want to ensure we are 100%.

No I don't know but that has been the pattern since the 16M. Each convertible special performance model has been a limited edition.

The aperta isn't limited but it seems that it will be introduced in smaller numbers - one of my dealers is getting nearly 60% less apertas than coupes.

Interesting! Actually that is really good news. Getting one in the past was almost impossible. If they are not limited than more will be on the road and not stuck in garages as collector items.

I think there is a poster who has insight/connections into one of Ferrari's suppliers or contract manufacturers.

Not officially confirmed of course, but that poster is saying Ferrari will be producing nearly the same amount of Apertas as they will hard top coupes, most likely basing that estimate off of purchase orders sent by Ferrari factory.

I would be shocked if there is not a limited edition Pista Aperta.

Assuming this board is correct (which is an assumption I would not bet a nickel on), the only way that would make sense is if they were launching, at the same exact time, a limited edition 812 Aperta.

I believe both a Pista Aperta and 812 Aperta limited edition will be produced but at different times. It is my understanding more limited editions will be getting produced in the future rather than less. I do not necessarily mean more of each edition, rather more editions.

Why is it a problem being sold out? Or why is it a problem that you can’t get one - do you have good buying history?

Don't get too excited, I doubt dealers know exactly the full extent of their allocations. One or two allocations can magically show up 6 months after initial delivery... assuming you have sufficient history with the dealer you plan on buying from.

Ferrari will be doing a number of short runs of cars in the coming years. Many of these are based on older models but initially using the 812 chassis. The only limited version of the Pista will be the special Tailor Made version for Ferrari’s challenge clients - I don’t believe this version has any performance enhancements but does have unique Tailor Made features which, I presume are challenge related.

It is so. But there will be those who do not confirm the allocation. It seems that Ferrari does not increase production.

How hard is it to get one?

I am driving my 18th Ferrari, of which most all came from my dealer. They tell me the factory decides who gets them. After my conversation with the GM and my rep I have decided that in order for me the get one:

Somebody else in the United States that has more money, and at least three Ferrari, did not want his.

It's not the dealers fault, nor Maranello's that there is more demand than supply........good problem to have and one I can assure you Mclaren wish they had!

Prepare to be shocked :D The Pista Aperta will be limited in the same way the Pista is currently limited. The real LE is yet to be announced........

The 812 aperta will not be an LE car - doesn't;t mean it will be easy to get but my understanding is its not LE.

I really do not get this fascination for cars with twisting bodies :D
Both 812 and Pista are awesome as berlinettas.
