This **** is pissing me off. First buy this then that. WTF. They did the same for my 488; had to get their used 458 first. After my 488 I will seriously be looking at other manufacturers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The funny thing is that they keep building Lusso notwithstanding that it is hard to sell. Maybe later people have to buy a Lusso and the SUV before being eligible to buy a 588.
You are right: Every market is different from each other. But there must be a reason if almost all the dealerships are asking to buy a Lusso if you want (quickly) one of most desired Ferrari models and they don't ask you to buy an 812 or a Portofino or a 488 spider. Ciao
The Lusso reduces the cost of the 812, as under the skin is not so much different: they need it. I suppose they will discontinue the Lusso as soon as the SUV (raised sides four seater car) will be ready
One of the guys I met at the Pista preview had just ordered an 812 with a Lusso. So not sure whether the 812 is really "sold out" as people thought- it is not a limited car after all. I would not be surprised if the same thing happens with the Pista (also not limited), and you can get one down the line.
It is a fact that's the Lusso is being forced on to clients - That equates to dumping later on and hence poor resale
Exactly what happened to the CaliT. I have a massively loaded one and when I was offered a tradein price it was mixed in with the F12TDF glut of sacrifice cars and they are bare with very few options etc. I kept it and glad I did, great companion to the Lusso.
Frankly it takes some real nerve to demand you purchase a car you don’t want to get the one you do want. I don’t think I’d play that game regardless of how much cash I had available to throw around.
I am really dumbfounded by these endless posts/threads on the same issue..over and over and over and over and over again. I swear some of you don't understand the simplest things about market forces, supply and demand. How the hell did you guys make enough money to buy a Ferrari in the first place. More demand than supply. Okay? Can you figure it out now??
I bought my 488 because I wanted the car. I certainly wouldn't buy a car I didn't want just to get one that I do. That's asking for trouble! In a way I don't blame Ferrari for playing on weakness. Pushing the Lusso onto some people is just their way of finding out who they can manipulate. I guess Ferrari figure if someone buys a Lusso then they should be good for anything else they find hard to shift down the track. Not saying the Lusso is a bad car - it's just not the most attractive thing on 4 wheels.
That's a rude post - You don't have to participate if you think it's not relevant to your line of thinking
Well the way I see it is no one has to do anything what Ferrari or dealerships tell them we are all adults and it’s just their way of doing business due to limited supply and high demand and if people do not like it or do not agree with buying car x to get allocation for car y then they are free to walk and go some other brand or wait and buy a used over msrp. We should all consider ourselves fortunate and be grateful that we are alive and can afford to drive these machines. Life is short just live it happily and not be a complainer! Went to the 812 reveal in my area and the minute the cover was pulled, it's like somebody took the air out of the room. There was an awkward silence and you could tell many of the folks were simply trying to talk up the car simply to try and get access to the tdf equivalent of it. F12 looks way better.
I remember the 488 reveal, same thing. I do like the front and side of the 812. But the rear is one of the most poorly designed elements of a car since Pontiac was in business turning out abominations in the early 2000’s
I think it's not as bad if you buy a Lusso off the floor, drive it for a year and trade it in on the Pista allocation that you earn with it. Especially if you get a V12 Lusso, you might find it quite a nice car. In the right colours, options, it could probably look quite nice. This way you get a nice car immediately and you swap it when your Pista is finally built. It's going to take some time for a Pista allocation to actually materialize into a car.
Couldn't agree more. It was hinted by my dealer - on more than one occasion - that I should buy a LussoT or the Lusso V12 as "I had too many specials''. I didn't say anything (I've been with my dealer for many years, they're good guys and they service my Ferraris well). Nor did I remind them my invites for the Speciale Aperta and tdf only appeared AFTER I had bought from a highly regarded indie specialist my (magnificent) F50. While I can't prove a direct cause and effect the F50 is the only Ferrari I have purchased where the factory contacted me directly for proof of ownership. Anyway, I found the LussoT excellent at a Millbrook testing day, but as a daily drive I need a full four seat SUV with easy rear access, and yes if (and when) Ferrari make one (and assuming they nail it) I will very happily buy. When I got the call from my dealer to say I had a Pista, my dealer, unprompted, said he wouldn't put me in a car I didn't need. That was a huge relief because Pista or not, he would have lost my business forever had he formally made the deal conditional, and for me that would have been a big call I didn't want to make.
