The "scraping" part doesn't sound right. Maybe they mask off the area where the stripe(s) go and after the panel gets painted, they reverse mask and spray the stripe color in the recessed area. Sounds like a lot of effort for stripes though. I recall the discussions in the days of the 360 CS, where it was determined that the stripes were vinyl over the body color and the whole thing covered with clear. Was this the method used on Scud and Speciale too?
[The hood has a crease line before the drop, don't like that but really think the front is too busy. The wheels not for me , I prefer silver alloy and 5 spoke. To me it just works on any car. One thing to bare in mind, carbon , yes its very strong but without the resin its just woven cloth. Ive been in the resin business for 34 years. The wheels will be only as good as the resin , and that goes with any carbon piece. 99.999999% they will go yellow. Its a fact. I hopefully expect they wouldn't be 100% epoxy as heat will affect them . Hence I guess why they have put a ceramic coating on the inner side. My real question is it really needed ? One thing for sure when they fail they will splinter
right on cue: this picture found by CD shows what appears to be more of the protective wheel material used during transit. It appears to have been torn off the wheel as they get ready to 'meet the press' there> Image Unavailable, Please Login
Letter 'K' is used by Michelin to designate a Ferrari specific tire. Typically K1 or K2 or K3 for the latest Ferrari specific tire compound. For comparison Michelin uses N1 for a Porsche specific tire and MO1 for a Mercedes-Benz specific tire. Audi can use RO1. Though sometimes car manufacturer's get sneaky. The 2018 Mercedes AMG GT R offers a tire developed by Michelin for the Chevrolet 2015 Z06 Corvette. It is the Pilot Sport Cup 2 but Mercedes calls them 'Extreme Performance Sport' tires.
Thanks for sharing, doesn’t look too good for the air vent in the silver color right? Or is that just me?
Spot on. Every GT350R I have seen has the inner barrel coated. I personally do not like the looks of it as the inner barrel "shows/pops" more which ends up drawing your eye inward. The wheel looks "unfinished" in a way which is why I don't care for the esthetics. From an engineering standpoint it is marvelous!
Yes it appears to be the case but these are the metal wheels... I guess we will see when its all done. I notice in one of the earlier pics it could be wrinkles from wrapping but I can't really be sure.
Not long to go now!! I’m so excited. Won’t see it in the flesh until Friday!! Pic from martinberryracing Image Unavailable, Please Login
I hope the Pista presentation will be much more exciting than Bugatti's..."Yeah, the Chiron Sport is 18kgs lighter, better handling, bye bye gentlemen"
