There's no way they could have waited around indefinitely for things to improve considering how far back Honda was. The problem is you start bleeding talent (they had already lost the sponsors) and then it's an unrecoverable downward spiral into a state like what Williams is today. Even if Honda get to a reasonable level (eg. Renault), what chance do they have of matching Merc or Ferrari when they couldn't even produce a competitive NA V8.

You're right that McLaren need to bide their time till the end of the current reg, which is how long the Renault contract is for. They now have an OEM relationship with BMW for roadcars. Hopefully / maybe they will get interested to come back to F1 as an engine supplier.

Alonso is no GOAT and he has a big mouth, but he's still probably the most complete driver in F1.

Alonso may not be GOAT, but he's certainly better than most other drivers on the grid, including Hamilton.

So you mean the problem wasn't really Honda but disloyal McLaren employees who wanted to jump ship.

More of a "management problem" than "real problem".

    Got it!

The real problem is that they’re garagistas and can’t build a bloody engine.

That's pretty easy to do when you have the best car on the grid.
Anytime Hamilton is not at the pointy end of the grid, he loses his cool real quick.

    Skysports today

McLaren say Fernando Alonso's car suffered an oil leak.

The Spaniard has left the garage and is in McLaren's hospitality area.

I'm just busting your chops, maybe one day Alonso will find himself in a ride that put him at the pointy end of the field too.

    Even worse.

What was the tally when Hamilton moved to Merc vs. Alonso. Hamilton has enjoyed the most dominant car of all time the last 4 years and has driven better equipment than anyone in the history of F1 in his career and Alonso has driven **** the last 4 years so you have to look below the surface a bit when you're talking about the better driver. Literally everyone knows this.

Or, be simple and quote stats. D- troll effort, going to need to bring it stronger than that son lol

20 years from now statistics will be the only reference to these guys. But you're right, everyone will remember Alonso as a GOAT.

Thanks for confirming what I already know. Of course I'm right.

Also, stats must be why everyone thinks Gilles Villeneuve is one of the greats right? That statement isn't true either

Love him or hate him, FA is absolutely one of the greatest to ever do it. Not THE greatest, but one of em
