I just received my Sharknose and it looks nice. The spinners even have the Borrani logo written on them wich is pretty rare to see. I bought the Spa version and all the parts look pretty good. The brakes are cast with the drilled thru rotors. They seem to be getting better at tires as these early Dunlop Racing tires have a good profile and Hiro has built up the inner thickness so that they will not droop with the model sitting on them. I think this is the first outside wire wheel Ferrari they have done and although they look straight drilled should look great when done. P.S. Last time I saw a 1/12th or smaller kit with a full logo on the spinners was the old 1/14th CMA Ferrari 166 1949 Lemans winner kit .
Thanks for the mention! I think back when I had those made we were the first to offer something like that.

FPPM is at it again with some great 1/24th scale resin kits coming. The 250 GT Bertone is one of my favorite street Ferrari's. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
DDP Gulf Mirage now available in 1/24th scale. Both Lemans 1975 and 1976. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A sometimes thankless task! I mentioned a new model on a forum and started getting threatening letters from the team saying that they had never authorized the model. Told them they were barking up the wrong tree and should be more careful about going off half-cocked!
Hiro has added the 2018 GTE Daytona winner to the decal sheet that has the darker metallic paint. Ford GT 1/24th scale kit. Also another photo of the Hiro 1/12th 917/30. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Man I wish Hiro did the J50 in 1/12 scale instead of the 488 GTB. I mean, the 488 is a great car, just not that special to warrant a 1/12 super kit. Anyone doing the 488 GTE? -F
Bit the bullet and purchased the red car kit. I was looking for a kit of a vintage car, something with wire wheels, ideally in a color other than red, mostly in a smaller size (1/43, 1/24). But kits in 1/43 of the models I was looking for were hard to find and Hiro kits in 1/24 are a little beyond what I wanted to spend. Especially hearing about Spiro's experience with the bad fit, I didn't like the idea of paying $700 for a kit that doesn't fit right. So, Profil24's 1/12 kit of the 250 LM fits most of my criteria. I wanted something vintage and though I wanted to add something to my collection other than another red Ferrari, I've always been a fan of the 250 LM as the grandfather of the mid-engine V-12 berlinetta and this car was a Le Mans winner so historically significant. Anyone have any suggestions on paint to use? Do you guys (cough, cough, Marshall) recommend using PPG automobile paint and clear coat? I think I'm ready to move on from model paint which has not always worked out so well, especially on larger subjects like a 1/12 car. -F
How about a color that is supposed to match exactly? This outfit has other Ferrari colors as well: http://www.gravitycolors.com/product/ferrari-rosso-corsa/.
Gravity colors, Zero paints, Tamiya, Testors, etc. Those are the options in that space. I think I'm ready to move up to the real stuff. That's what Peter used on his 1/12 models. -F
He also used Zero Paint and I think Gravity colors also. They are like a base coat car paint with a less hot 2K style clear coat(so the decals don't get ruined). I have painted several real cars as a hobby and now only use base coat/2K for metallic colors. Tamiya and Testors are model paints and not nearly as good as Zero and Gravity.
Thanks Tom. That makes sense that a two part paint would be more sympathetic to decals. I've ruined a few with a solvent based clear coat. And thanks Jim for the tip on Gravity Colors. I guess at this point, it's whatever I can reasonably import into the country. -F
Gravity are two different companies and two different brands of automotive paint depending on which outfit you buy them from - the one in Europe or the one in the USA.
It looks like getting a bottle or two of Zero Paints Rosso Corsa 300 in the United States is pretty much impossible. If any of you have a lead on that, let me know. -F
