330 GT 2+2 tyres 205/70VR15

Hi

I went to an auction recently where there was a 330 GT 2+2 https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/ferrari/330/gt-2-2.html fitted with the wrong tyre 205/70VR15. I thought you might like to see it.

When the first of the 365 GT 2+ 2 cars came out Ferrari were still fitting 205VR15 Pirelli Cinturato CN72, tyres onto the 7” wide RW3812 which would still be the tyre of choice for these early cars, on that 7” rim. And if it is comfort of ride the 205VR15 Cinturato will always give a lovely ride.


During the production of the 365 GT 2 + 2 Ferrari were moving their cars over to take advantage of the new low profile tyre technology so they moved to a RW 4075 wheel which fitted a 215/70VR15 XWX.


There is an inch (24mm) difference in overall diameter in these tyres, so it is worth considering this when choosing a tyre. If you have an early car and the wheel arches look a little empty, the switch to the 205. If you want longer gearing & or a more comfortable ride switch to the 205. If you think it might benefit from a lower stance, and a more firm ride switch to the 215/70.


I think i have had discussions about this car before and it is easy to get confusticated with the 365 GT4 2+2 which is a different car.

please if anyone knows better let me know because i just want this to be right. if anyone has any build sheets that would be lovely.

Oo, no they never fitted 205/70VR15 tthey are far too small in diameter it was 205VR15 or 215/70VR15

tyhe one on the left is a 205/70VR15, the one in the middle is a 205Vr15. the one on the right is a 215/70Vr15. they never fitted 205/70Vr15 on this car that is as you can see much smaller

We have a boiot more understanding about your cars than asking a data base to work out what gives you the right diameter.

What you chaps are after is a bit more specialist than a generic computer app can give you. your tyres are more between 80% - 82%. and not like modern tyres. and being Ferrari more bespoke.

What ever you do, please don't just go wider than stock just to buy a cheaper tyre. stay as close as you can to OE it will just handle better. Please just ask us, we really genuinely do give a S**t. we want it to be right, and best (though that is not always cheapest).
