    Anyone have a good write up on changing the gear box oil in an early 612? I've read that you need to remove a cross member to get to it and that a pump is necessary. I pulled the under tray off prior but had to put it all back when I didn't have a pump handy.

    A write up, preferably with photos, would be great.

    It is and its helpful, but I find that the manuals seem to eliminate a lot of the actual steps and "tricks" that can be done. Its a good starting point but someone sharing actual experience can be extremely helpful to the process.

    Right. The manuals are not written to take a guy off the street with zero experience and expect the job can be done 100%. They are guides for experienced techs. I personally find the later manuals such as the 612 to be very good. Older manuals such as the 355 are far less detailed.
