Pista Allocation

All that means is that they are going to come back to you and say that they couldn't get you approved by ferrari.

Someone who wants to play ball and get that lusso will get the pista before you. (plenty of people do group buys on ferrari's for investment purposes to share the loss on money losing cars and share the profit on the money making cars).

If you went to another dealer without any buying history then you definitely won't get a pista or any other in demand ferrari in the future over there established customer base.

What would you do if they didn't give you a Pista allocation?

 

Lots of 18' gt3s for sale at list which means you can probably get a discount.

 

At list !? Please show me these cars . What’s happening is a maybe listed for msrp until you call the dealership and they want an adm for the car. Everyone in the Porsche community knows this. Try calling on one and let me know when you find one for list and I’ll buy it. I do have a Pista allocation, however, for msrp. Excited about that ..

 

The beauty of porsche dealers, is that no need to have car buying history. Just meet their price and the car is yours. Is that a better system then buying cars you don't need/want and then be able to say that you bought a car for MSRP?

 

I haven't called I'm not interested but just do a search on eBay or cars.com. Feel free to call any if them. I've come across them looking for TTS to replace my FF.

OK. My experience at the moment is that they are going over MSRP. They might be listed at MSRP on dealer websites but when you call them it is a different story. If they dip below MSRP then there is going to be a lot of cancelled orders.

 

No. It isn’t. For those who buy cars that others supposedly don’t want because we want them, and like to buy cars that others do want too, the system works fine thanks. And why shouldn’t it? My friend bought multiple Panameras, Cayennes and Macans - all the turbo versions. Still took him ages to get an allocation for a GT3, following a lot of hassling the dealer. He finally managed to get a .2 GT3 after failing with the previous versions - unbelievable, he has spent over £1.5m on the other cars over the last few years. Then was made to feel ‘lucky’ that he was given an allocation. No thanks. The Ferrari system works much better.

 

That is unique and not my experience but I know some dealers operate in a crappy manner.

 

Different in the States. Buying history no buying history with porsche it doesn't matter. Want to pay $20K over MSRP then the gt3 allocation is all your's.

 

Gt3 991.2 DEFINITELY over msrp without allocation at the moment. Not even worth discussing guys. It’s a fact!

I have called them . eBay Asking prices mean NOTHING. Current market is 15-25k over msrp. Doesn’t matter it is what it is .

 

Easy, lots of them on cars.

possible but too many available to get anything over list IMO. 20 listed on cars.com today. I doubt you will ever see 20 Speciale's or Pista available so quickly or even a GT2RS.

 

Those GT3 cars without photos are "incoming" to dealers that are already sold... Dealer inventories are directly tied to cars.com and other auto shopping sites, hence why you see new GT3 cars at MSRP listed with no/stock photos, they're already sold, but their database gets updated with every incoming car, which in turn shows up on other sites until it's sold.

I can't begin to tell you how frustrating it is for buyers and sellers that get calls regarding this... buyer gets frustrated because he/she felt it was a bait/switch, dealer hates it because it gives them a bad rep with potential loss of future sale.

There are those of us who have been in the business for decades, so we see it all... including the smoke and mirrors.

 

The 211k car isn’t msrp . Likely closer to 180k so big markup. The others won’t be that price when you call . Trust me I’ve owned 6 Porsche’s and many more Ferrari’s . I know the game . Call on any of those you listed and ask them what the msrp is and then what they are selling the car for. All of them will be at least 15-25k over msrp.

Fact is the Gt3 (991.2) has continued to maintain its over msrp price point for those without an allocation. No sense in us arguing about it, you are simply misinformed and wrong .

 

Man things are bad - a pista thread had lead us to talking about punch buggies.

Very funny! I'm guessing member @Viperjoe doesn't know of or maybe remember the game some of us played growing up - if you spotted a VW Beetle on the road, if you had a friend or family member next to you, you would punch them in the arm (sometimes hard!) and then yell "Punchbuggy!"

I think the 488Pista is clearly hot now and will remain a hot car for some time so you can expect market dynamics that go along with it.

All I know is once again they have made a car that stokes my imagination. That's one of the many things I love about Ferrari.

 

I love Ferrari and have never been a huge Porsche fan in general except for the GT cars. The GT3 imo is as exciting a car to drive as anything. Obviously on a different level than Ferrari but amazing nonetheless.

 

I didn't take losses with those cars from before because I always bought them at MSRP no premiums and traded them back at about the same, I think I only took losses when I traded back the FF and the 599.
