folks, I’m getting nearer retiring my Audi A5.its been a great car, but it’s main shortcoming for me, is I can’t fit an XL hockey bag in the small trunk, which means I rely on using my wife’s SUV every week.
I can’t justify having a big suv for myself th rest of the time as I rarely drive with more than 1passenger.
I’d like something sporty, although I don’t need a ton of power for a daily driver.
I figure the Canadian forum is my best bet for finding others who can relate:)
Fwiw, I love my Audi....it’s reliable, fun, looks great, and not terrible on gas, and complements my Ferrari nicely. ;)

M2 is much smaller than the A5 - not sure how that would work for a XL hockey bag.

I assume the a5 you have now is the coupe - have you tried the new Audi A5 sportback ?

Correct, coupe. Part of the problem is, the trunk is very shallow...the other part, is the trunk opening is very narrow/ small, kind of an odd shape.
Yes, I’ve been meaning to check out the A5 sportback....and the a7 as well, although the 7 might be a bit big for my general needs.

I'm not a hockey player so not sure how big that bag is. I put golf clubs in the trunk of my M2 (woods have to come out of the bag first). The rear seats go down very easily if that's a need. The M2 is a very flexible car, has great tech, easy as a DD and is a blast to drive when the opportunity is there. It's 90% of the fun of a 911 for 50% of the cost, plus more usable. Might not be a fit but drive one if you can.

I've had an Audi A7 and that car, while a decent sedan, was a snoozer to drive.

The Quattro and 4matics are more popluar here because of our crappy weather from Nov - March , trust me, if we had your weather the M line ups would be larger sellers here as DD! Wish we had your SF weather ~ that M2 as a DD must be awesome!

Forget the a7 - it’s dated and the new model is coming next year now. And it’s is a little long in the tooth.

The new A5 sportback will not disappoint, and the new mmi system in audi is bloody fantastic.

Lol...nahhh...I’m in Ontario. I can get in a good game, home and back in less than 3hrs all year long...skiing, not so much....
Besides, for that, I wouldn’t need a 911....my current Audi would more than suffice ;)

Sure—I wish Audi still brought them in (S4 Avants at all, esp manuals).

If you can stand an automatic, I’d go with an A4 Allroad maybe....or an Alfa Stelvio (or Giulia if your bag fits in the trunk).

I’m a big fan of wagons so...

Believe it or not, my hockey bag used to fit perfectly in my AM Vantage.
I have also used my 911s for hockey, but the bag and sticks have to fit in the front seat which marks up the interior a bit.

Not sure how sporty you want to go, but Corvettes are being sold at big discounts and have a decent amount of trunk space.

I'd pay a lot of money to see someone fit a XL hockey bag in a Corvette!

    Another thought: E63 AMG?

My hockey bag fits in my 3-series coupe along with the puck bag and water bottles. Check out the 4-series if you would like a brand new vehicle.

That wouldn’t be practical in winter, or for my fitness level ;)
Plus there’s a part of me that thinks subjecting beautiful vehicles to that sort of punishment makes baby Jesus cry ;)

If you can play hockey (or carry a hockey bag full of equipment), you can track!
Was it Enzo who said if you don't want to drive a Ferrari like a Ferrari, get a picture and hang it on the wall.

Kia Stinger GT. 365 hp, Awd, big hatch, long warranty, impervious to salt, door dings, and best of all, consideration. An Amanti on roids, what could be better in salty, mall infested Ontario ? ;)

Just thought of another great reason to get the Kia. Every time you meet a Russian, they’ll say “ eees new Stinker , yess? How can you beat that? Worth every dollar of intense depreciation ;). Did someone mention lease ? ;).

If you are carrying that much gear, you're either a goalie or need two smaller bags that will fit into just about anything
i used to put mine in the passenger seat of the 308GTB, made it to the rink every time ...
