Yep, correct. Research shows that the 16" wheels didn't become available as a spare part from Ferrari until late 1977 and no one has ever been able to produce an invoice showing a new glass GTB being sold with 16" wheels. Regardeless I wouldn't mind a set of the OEM 16" wheels myself. It's a stunning looking car, price is reasonable too for the condtion and mileage and a bargain compared to a 246. It would cost much more to buy one and restore it.
Although I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think they were ever a factory option on a Australian Delivered car until the QV. Every 308 I saw back in the day with 16's pre QV were English delivery cars.
the sought after wheels for glass cars are original 7.5" x 14's I would fit Stratos "coffin spoke" wheels ahead of factory 16's, because they are more period correct (were used on Group 4 cars) and they look farking hot!
Err yes mate.. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/145845177/ Jeeez some of you have short memories.
Yep...and contrary to Greg's uninformed post, when I was trying to sell it a few years ago, EVERY person who came to see it or enquired put more importance on it being aussie spec rather than dry sump. The End. Mind you, this only applies to Aus
Yep....and bought it with many years of experience to make sure I picked the right car, rather than "I'll buy this one cos it's cheap"....unlike some
Must admit I would go for the Dry Sump any day rather than a wet Sump engine over a factory delivery destination...Especially for track use or hard driving....I am fortunate enough to have my feet in both camps but I still fail to see the stigma.....I wouldn't buy imported luggage though even if I had a hedge high enough to hide them...
I think glass 308's are a case where Aus vs UK delivery is less of an issue - you just buy the best car available, which PP's definitely was.
Pfft Remember the UK glass car I tried to buy from Duttons? I was gazumped as it was on its way to a PPI. They’re a world car, dry sump is the most desirable spec. The end
