    Hello gents,

Just a quick one, I've finally got the excuse I needed to be able to start hacking around with a can bus conversion on the 360...

I've touched on this before but this has now become important as ive just acquired one of the last Ferrari Telemetry systems for the F430 and various other models. Its actually just a glorified data logger with dual hd cameras and a mic and and storage. Later an app syncs video and track data so you can analyze how you performed.

I know there are much better systems especially full on race loggers with higher frequencies and more data collected on engine performance however this thing is still quite cool... I could actually build a much more powerful system from scratch but it wouldn't look anywhere near as cool. Perhaps I may just use the casing in future and Junk the innards :)

..anyway the point being I will do a detailed installation thread of what is required to convert engine parameters shared between the two me7 ECUs into a format the logger understands. I will also add the F430 Bosch steering angle sensor and add that to the bus so it can also log intended steering angle.

I will build the entire controller software from scratch and upload it on github for free...[emoji3]

I did actually send you a pm about it as I saw your post on the subject from a while ago. Having not even received it yet I have no opinion, what's your view on it? Have you used it much? Saw you did the silverstone record with it! Is it on YouTube ? Any decent installation pics you can post ?

I will follow this thread with great interest......good work, from a toy to something that we can really use.
Can we request an add-on, so we can log some suspension position sensors.
    Thanks

If I add an FPGA based DAQ then I can realtime sampling rates on upto 8 channels which I could save too. However if I go this route I may as well do the playback SW too :) possiblity definitely, let me make the factory stuff work first then I will evolve it to a much better place...

I have plenty of patience, the playback we can handle in Excel, but the important and critical part is the decoding of the CAN bus, then we can do anything we want. great work, thank you.
I think the chassis can be improved a lot if we understand what is going on at the wheels, this is my objective.

Hi Trev. No PM's received - I'll need to check I haven't got an issue. The quality of the construction, connectors etc is extremely good. I have only used it a couple of times and have to say the quality of the footage is poor compared to GoPro etc. The overlaying of the telemetry works pretty well.

I started a 'conversation' so maybe it was the way i tried to contact you that was wrong ;) Look at 'conversations' tab.

Any pics to share? would love to see how and where they fitted it for you... (mainly how it looks)

The cameras are HD spec according to the info I have so they should be at least 720p. If not I will rip the guts outta this unit and upgrade them to 4K 60fps units and offer people an upgrade path ;)
