Steve I am in the unique position of having driven 4808, and the Bertone Roadster in both ZN75 and Brussels show guise! I can summarize those experiences thus - it's much better when a Miura has a roof from a chassis stiffness and handling standpoint
Raymond, Any period pictures available - via the original owner you personally know - of #4808 in its P400S configuration / in its original "Giallo" color ? Here below a summary of the evolution of this Miura over the time... - In its original P400S configuration (B&W picture only...) - Geneva 81 - displayed on the official Lamborghini stand - already modified by Lambo Motor AG - roof cutted, car painted in white, with deep front spoiler & rear wing added. - Later, still in white but with rear wing removed - Then painted silver... - After its restoration by Lecocq (in France) and painted lime green (2007). I don't have any more & recent info on this particular Miura (perhaps now put back in its original P400S configuration ?) Any updated information would be appreciated !!! I think it was orange before it became the white giant, need to check my picture archive. He has a picture in his garage from which I took a cell phone picture.
Joe, sorry to add that you have not the unique position... as you are not the only one... I had the privilege to drive #4808 at Spa Track for 10 laps and around the track... of course the current owner is driving it often... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bruno, here is a picture of #4808 while modified... for the update pic, see my reply to Joe Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is (was) at lambo motors in Aesch, the picture was shown in a ILOC magazine if my memory serves me correctly.
all correct Raymond... it was in september 1980... Can you ask your friend, if he confirms that the front hood came directly from Sant'Agata ??? ...as it was reported to me by one source... but I always prefer a 2nd confirmation...
I'll call him this week. But I think they are relating to the Mimran Jota which was entirely done in Riparto Assistenza.
Olivier, if you read my post carefully I said I was in the unique position of driving BOTH 4808 and the Bertone Miura Roadster, the latter in BOTH ZN75 and Bertone Roadster guise. I have posted images of these events in this thread. Besides driving 4808: Have you driven the Miura ZN75? Have you driven the Bertone Miura Roadster?
Joe, your 1st sentence was : ""Steve I am in the unique position of having driven 4808, and the Bertone Roadster in both ZN75 and Brussels show guise!"" I misunderstood because "BOTH" was related to Roadster/ZN75 , which is the same car in 2x different guises... and BOTH was not related to #4808... as I never spoke about driving #3498 Bertone Roadster, you have the answer... by deduction !
I stopped by Coys in London today, and as a result, for purposes of clarification, I can confirm that this car is back at their facility as it did not sell Image Unavailable, Please Login
Did you see the paperwork supporting what was actually done by the factory in converting to SV spec? Also weren't the bids real or were they withdrawn afterwards
I only spent a few minutes there, happening to spot thier showroom on the way back from the McLaren Technology Center. I did not inquire about the bids, but I established the car was not sold. I asked about factory invoices, but none were forthcoming, and I was made to understand that Coys do not have supporting documents in that regard. My understanding is the story that this car was converted by the factory is based on claims by a previous owner. I looked at the car closely in the short time I had and I concluded that this car is a P400 which happens to have a SV rear hood, and it is not a factory partial SV conversion. Others can draw thier own conclusions. Meanwhile this looked to be a Miura in nice condition.
...and yet Coys' catalogue description states: "......and invoices from Lamborghini confirming all works carried out at Santa’Agata in 1974,....."
It appears that Polo Storico have restored 4863 to its original Miura S configuration... https://www.lamborghini.com/en-en/news/miura-maggie-may-shines-again
