When the thread is entitled " Mclaren 720S or 488 ", it would seem probable that some would post their preference for the former and compare it less favourably to the latter, keeping in mind that this is a Ferrari forum.

OK you got me, I am a McLaren troll. I am sorry your feelings were also hurt, my sincere apologies.

Just confirmed my position for a Pista today so maybe I am a Ferrari troll as well. God forbid somebody disagree with some (including yourself). I guess this is the new age we live in, I need to get accustomed to it.

No need to explain yourself, some just get their panties ruffled when the wind blows in the wrong direction. We are just discussing cars.

Both cars are beautiful , I just like the 488 better and that's why I chose it. But there is a point that the speed 0-200 will reach a point that cant be improved. And then what ? Style ? One thing I do believe though is that Maclaren to be different will release a new version of the F1 with a 3 seat configuration. This would be interesting

I would concede the thread discussion is as circular as ever .... Ultimately, it is a Ferrari forum so not sure what the Mac boys were expecting? A shift to the Mac camp? Hardly. All points of view have been made adnauseum - some have got emselves all ****ty that the F car lovers are refusing to buckle.. As a suggestion, perhaps it's time to pack up the bats and balls and go back to whichever side of the fence you prefer and try and be happy with your own lot. Doesn't seem like much sense hitting one another over the head with a stick, particularly over a car that so very few will ever really love long term. Just saying..

Talk about insecurity, sheesh. Yes your car is best at everything for everyone always and forever. Forget about debating other choices and the merits of each. You win, yeah.

    Feel better now?

Both the 720 and 488 are incredible cars. One has the awesome badge we lust after and the other has the title of quickest. enjoy them.

fixed my auto correct so now it wont be a Pissa any longer. Had similar problem with eSpecial

Pissa is a slang word - auto-correct would correct Pissa to Pizza, unless of course you use a slang correct function  Just saying.....

My 2 cents, buy a 458 and then the 720s!
In 3 years they will all be surpassed but the experience in the 720s is like no other TODAY.
The 458 I feel is still a TIMELESS / BULLET PROOF design.
    AAANNND ITS STILL A FERRARI!
Back in 2001 I thought my 550 was timeless , its still a great car but a tad dated.....
Guys Ive never owned a McLaren till this one, but Ive owned or driven mostly everything else.
Even if the 720 gets old, today when you go from 2nd to 3rd to 4th NOTHING comes near it.
Then trade it in and keep the 458 forever:)
    A happy post from......

Why any anger. Buy the car you like at the moment. Most of us will buy another to add in short order, while others will trade in their current car for the latest model from the same or different company. Intense emotional attachment to an inanimate object may be unhealthy.

For some reason I have a bug for an OLD tr4?
    Just to run....

Agreed, too much is too personal. This is rubbish, that is rubbish, what I own is great blah blah blah. Call me an optimist but I believe it is possible to tell others what you like about a particular car without that having to mean that competitors may as well be stuck in the trash. Comments that leave no room for other opinions are not really worth listening to.

Its not a new F1 but more of an homage to the F1

Bang! Oh and by the way, this all changes in a year or two so we get to yell at each other all over again. BUT whatever I have is the best, dont forget that. :)

720 has the advantage of being much quicker and less hated by the general public (at least here in the UK)

And the disadvantage of living out its best years in the service bay. If McLaren ever manages to get it right, would be hard not to buy one - odd styling and all. When cracking, the car is an absolute phenom. Otherwise, a resale heartbraker. I’m on the side of cheering McLaren gets it right. Imagine that wicked performance with reliability to boot!

That's a big benefit in the UK especially being a home grown brand there's bound to be a sense a pride from local observers

Have any owners reported their 720s living in the service bay as suggested above? News to me if it is.

Not me or a couple of others I know but I've heard of door adjustments and simple things the dealers have remedied.

Fun to speculate or make things up and run with it though

2600 miles and 10 track days.

leak in a hose within the first 100 mile drive. Taken care of fairly quickly but rock solid since.

Living in the service bay like all exotics that may have an issue. Getting to dealer without an appointment, juggling their schedule, diagnosing issue, getting part, juggling schedule, installing part and then waiting for delivery to customer. Rinse, repeat for all exotics.

One of my friends has GT3, Speciale and LT Spider. Loves the LT but whenever he tracks it has to plan for it to be in the shop for something after. Loves the car more than the hassle though.

    Good to hear.

Guess it’s just nonsense posting by 720 haters.

I’ve been offered to test a 720 for 24hrs by the dealer. Think I’ll give it a go.
I can see adding it as the king track car. I have a Huracan Performante Spider incoming for noise, cruising and posing. :)

I believe, with Mac, in order for the warranty to be in effect for track usage, there is a pre and post inspection that needs to be done. This is what was explained to me by the dealer, which being 300 miles away, is a bit of a hassle. I love the car, and what they have done, but the logistics unfortunately don't work, wish they did.
