    The thread title is "LP500 Prototype Replica"...perhaps you are referring to an LP400 prototype replica??...

    The car is supposed to be a replica of the Countach LP500 Prototype with had unique radiator cooling vents on the upper flanks behind the doors/side windows. Original car in the pic.

    I asked Vasileios Papaidis about it on FB and this is what he found out: "Finally..It's a 1974 LP400 that was damaged by its Saudi owner in the 80s, badly restored and remaining unsold for so many years. Current owner decided to modify it as a LP500-tribute and let it on display at the Audi museum."

    Ok, accepted. But why did the current owner decide NOT to restore the car to its exact and correct LP500- prototype specs? Mission non-accomplished!

    Previously badly restored and now badly replicated. This can't be the work of the factory surely. I wonder if the car has cooling issues when run with the radiators as they are which was a problem for the original prototype?

    A tribute I can understand but a replica is an exact copy of something and this is not an exact copy of anything...

    It was absolutely sensational!!! Lamborghini should make a replica of the original LP500 Countach prototype.

    I agree make a replica of the prototype!
    Ferrari did the 125 and incorrectly at that so lets see what Lamborghini Storica or whatever it is called can do.
    Lamborghini were even very reluctant to get involved with the green s/n 1 Countach years ago when it languished in a garage. That Countach was found in Switzerland if I remember correctly. Even when that green Countach was done they couldn't get the paint color the correct shade.
    Building the yellow prototype from scratch would be a big challenge to see if they could get it right! I wonder what happened to the original wrecked car.....

    Boy, do I hate seeing the word replica and Countach in the same sentence. Especially when it is a real Countach.

    That yellow LP500-tribute at the Audi Museum is LP400 #1120044, with a complicated history.
    This poor Countach couldn't find any brave enthusiast to invest the time and money necessary for salvation, so she ended up this way.
    But why so many questions here and on Facebook about this LP400?

    Lets be honest all this "down to original factory specs restoration" usually happens for investment reasons, to get a big profit at resale.
    So for someone to replicate the LP500 from a LP400 , he needs to be really passionate about the brand and model with a big wallet and not care for profits.

    I'm sure some do as you say but others including myself do actually like a car to be as it left the factory to original specification, unless it had an interesting period history with mods. Thinking as I write and stating the obvious that must be what most people want as there is more demand for an original spec car and that's why they command a higher price. I don't think that in all cases the motivation to restore a car to original spec is for greed driven profit as is often implied.

    Completely different chassis, completely different shape - not sure what he thought he could replicate. Might have well used a Fiero!
