production numbers 575

know ran from '02-'05 but...

anybody know how many were produced each year (excluding SA in '05)

Jimmie, Mike- I have 2064 including the same 246 three pedals. The last serial number I have, and also posted in Cavallino as last, is 141817, but not 100% sure how accurate that is. Production seems to have been ~35% 02, ~35% 03, ~20% 04, and ~10% 05 based on our small database with 150 or so cars.

Affirmative, production overlapped on most of the cars as early production models were produced, tested, and used to develop tech data. These early cars were later updated by the factory and sold. At one point, the 575M, 612, and Superamerica were all being produced at the same time, all with variations of the same engine (F133E, F133F, F133G).

I have a rarer spec 575M here in the UK which includes the following:

*Fiorano Handling Pack (one of 392 produced)
*19" Modular Aluminium Wheels
*Scuderia Wing Shields
*Small Spare Wheel
*Carbon Racing Seats (one of 92 produced)
*Carbon Fibre Interior (F1 paddles, dashboard surround, door panels, radio surround and door step plates)
*4-Point Safety Belts (one of 40 produced)
*Nero Leather Interior/Red Stitching
*Leather Rear Shelf
*Factory Spec Road Legal Roll Bar

Do you know if the produced numbers noted above are correct as I have been told only 392 575M's had the FHP and fewer had carbon seats and the 4-point safety belts?

Doug, I have never seen any official number for FHP production and I have asked Ferrari directly (I know them through various routes in the media, and we publish the official Ferrari magazine) and been told nobody there has the information. They could compile it, by looking at every build sheet, I suppose, but never did and I imagine never will.

I would think the number of FHP cars is higher than that.

Your car has a very nice spec.

I do not trust any number unless I see it printed in a factory or government sourced document. Unlike Chevrolet on the Corvette, Ferrari never published numbers on colors, options, etc. I would love to find someone at a dealership who could be bribed to print all the 575M build sheets for me. Enter those in a relational database and we could get some real answers. Here is what I know:

575M Production Numbers
Total Production: 2064 of which 246 were Manual (11.9%)
UK RHD Total: 251, of which 69 were Manual (27.5%)
ROW: 1814, of which 177 were Manual (9.8%)
US Production: 02: 208, 03: 167, 04: 127

I'd like to know where that 392 figure is from. It's very precise, and nobody has ever given a precise number before.

The ratio of FHP to non FHP 575s has been discussed here before and estimates from Fchatters vary from 15 to 40 per cent of production. I wouldn't want to hazard a guess, but 392 seems low. My own guesstimate would be in the region of 500-750, but that's just that, a guess.

 

I've never driven one with the FHP before but to a novice like myself, would you notice it? I mean its one thing to drive my SLR which is a flat out race car, but the FHP doesn't turn the 575 into that type of ride,steering,suspension does it? I just always see people comment about how the non FHP cars are meh and so on and I just scratch my head bc I have a non fhp 575 and its a damn awesome car.

 

No the FHP or HGTC does not turn it into a race car.
On the 575 it’s perfect in my eyes. Just a little firmer than a base car. Slightly less body roll. You would notice the difference but hardly too firm on US roads.
The 550 FHP package difference was said to be more noticeable but have no experience. Plenty of commentary in the archives if you care to.

I agree with Bill. Although the owners manual does refer to FHP as a racetrack handling package, it's all relative.

I loved the SLR also but it's big and heavy compared to a Scuderia, which is heavy and soft next to an Ariel Atom, which is not a race car compared to a F1 car, etc..

Personally I don't think the FHP 575 is far off an SLR in terms of raciness but I haven't tracked either and never will. I think the thicker FHP roll bars do make a difference when pressing on, but if you're not planning to drive a 575 near its limits, the non FHP versions have their advantages.

 

Still interested in that 392 number and where it came from..

 

Darius- Probably extrapolated from a smaller set of data. You could use my list and do the same thing. 238 575Ms, 43 FHPs is 18% x 2064 = 372. Pretty close, 382 would be 18.5%. They might even have used an earlier version of my list. I think the UK percentage of FHP would be much higher. In the US, the dealers actively discouraged FHP because they knew the brakes would squeal and customers would complain. Henry and I picked up, and sold, sets of FHP take-off pads from Continental Ferrari near Chicago. Parts guy said the customers could not stand the squealing, which when new does sound a lot like metal on metal.

 

I only have 1,341 575Ms in my database - about a third shy of total production. I have 217 confirmed US-spec 2002 575Ms; I have 180 confirmed US-spec 2003 575Ms; and I have 145 confirmed US-spec 2004 575Ms.

 

Interesting I saw Taz list had i think 208 2002's. Where did you get your data from?

 

My information is incomplete - those are just the cars I was able to record in my database. I get my information from all over the place - but it's one car at a time. So it's gonna take me a while to identify the other 700 or so 575Ms that I'm still missing from my database. But if I have more 2002 575Ms than Taz, it could be for a number of reasons; but seeing as how we're only off by nine cars, it's too small a difference to raise a concern.

 

Carbon- Welcome back. Have not seen you here for a while. The production numbers for US cars came from NHSTA, who I assume got them from Ferrari directly. Your numbers may include Canadian models, which were identical to US models except for metric gauges.
