I have over 420 SNs in my database and I don't think there is a single one documented that left Maranello in green or prugna, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say those are some *very* rare colors for 348s. Wish SNs were available for those cars.

I have colours for about 4000 348s in my database. Only one of those - the one pictured above, which was new to the UK - is Prugna. Twelve are green (1 x tb, 4 x ts and 7 x Spiders). Roughly 78% of tbs and ts' in my database are red along with 64% of Spiders.

APrugna one was for sale around 7 to 8 years ago on gold alloys in UK, I may have ad saved somewhere, was tatty. Then another different one, I think cropped up, so I think at least 2 RHD.

Quite possibly. The picture I posted above was taken in April 2012 and it changed hands later that year. I don't know what has become of it since though.

Funny, but this thread was about rare OEM paint colors.

4000?!?! That's amazing. You'd get tired of answering questions long before I'd run out of 'em, but how did you manage to amass such a database when SNs are so infrequently posted in ads? I'm guessing you have a factory connection of some sort.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to see a color breakdown if it's easy for you to generate one.

Also, with regard to prugna, isn't it possible that there are others that you haven't documented?

In any case, huge props on your work. It's taken a good bit of time just to get to 425+, so 4000 is impressive indeed. I was hoping to document 10% of the cars and you've got nearly 50%!

As per the Original Ferrari V8 book by Keith Bluemel, on page 89, these are the colors that were offered. Under Paintwork; "The range of factory colours manufactured by Glasurit was unchanged throughout the life of the series. These solid (standard) and metallic (optional) colours are listed in the accompanying table, together with their codes."

That car was listed both as Blu Scuro and Blu Pozzi during its recent time on the market, neither of which are listed in the Bluemel book. Would you be so kind as to post a photo of your factory color sticker, located on the bottom side of the engine cover? The color of your car is rare, at least according to my records. Maybe we can figure out how rare.

Mike, look up 96764 in your records. I sent this car to you (although you may have already had it). Currently owned and was for sale by Christopher Fazio who incidently also owned my Alfetta GTV two owners ago. This car was sold new in Seattle at Grand Prix Imports (hah, same as my Alfetta) to Bruce McCaw. Later it spent time in Phoenix area which is where Chris bought it and brought it back to Seattle.

Anyway, this car is Blue Scuro with a grey interior.

And I couldn't imagine someone ordering a 348 in Marrone or Oro. Wow. Anyone have any pics of those?

Also, I think we know that list is incomplete because hyperion isn't on there either.

Thanks, Brian. Based on the pics of 96764 zddy97210's car does indeed look to be Blu Scuro. However, blues photograph very differently based on light so Blu Pozzi can look just like Blu Scuro if the light is correct. Zddy's new car is almost certainly Blu Scuro but it'd be fun to see the color tag since Bluemel didn't show it as available on 348s.

He does, however, show Azzuro. Isn't the full name of that light metallic blue "Azzuro Hyperion Metallic"?

Well, I guess sooner or later we were bound to find something about Ferrari that's confusing. ;)

Sheesh, too many color names to keep up with. Just to keep it simple, all 348s should be red. Except for my black one, of course (I want me some of that "rare color" value enhancement).

Thanks for the lesson. I'll keep those images in the files so that one of these days I can try to sort out the various shades in my database. Got any examples of the colors themselves? I'm curious about the difference between the two similarly named hues.
