Yes, but it was bound to happen. You could see that from the start of the race. So why no team orders?
Ferrari wasn't really in the running last year, we where just about ahead due to some strokes of luck and reasonably competitiveness....but not on pure pace. now the tables are turned. I see absolutely no reason to start saying the championship is lost. 2012 is not a good example. The car was not the fastest, the only reason Ferrari was ahead was simply because of the misfortune that befell Vettel earlier that season
Everytime team radio came on with Max, it always ended with: "KEEP IT CLEAN MAX!!!" I don't how many times it was but more than 3x.
The championship is not lost. But they threw away some points today and have a lot so far this year. You can't blame Bottas' DNF on him. Now look at the pit crew incident with Kimi a few races ago. They are still making the mistakes that Mercedes isn't.
Image Unavailable, Please Login This was the most Verstappen went to the left. He gave ric the room. Ric must've thought Max was going all the way to the wall and tried getting out of it.
He was probably having a sneaky watch of the Channel 4 coverage - David Coulthard said the exact same thing looking at the replay just after the incident. Daniel Riccardo being very diplomatic about the collision after the race, choosing his words very carefully and apologising to the team. Max has also apologised to the team, and has said that there's no point trying to blame anyone for it, it's far more important to learn lessons from it. To my mind, watching the replay yet again, Max did his old jink around in the braking area, and it's finally caused a collision. As I posted earlier, the way the two Red Bull drivers were going at it with each other, that collision was always on the cards sooner or later!
Agree Ferrari is clearly the better package this year, but The Ferrari was also the better car last year on handling circuits. Going into Singapore, the battle was clearly on but mistakes and misfortunes kinda handed the title to Merc last year. This season, the onus is on Merc to match Ferrari so that’s why you can’t come close to writing the Scuderia off. It would be like writing Hamilton off last season after a rough start.
I'm not sure where I'm blaming Bottas...They threw away points today, but they made them in Australia with a bit of luck. I'm not worried yet. In the race Vettel clearly had the pace, got the gap and managed that...each time elton punched some laps in Vettel casually knocked in a belter of a lap, putting elton on the back foot again...moreso, Elton used up his tires attempting to chase Vettel. He got lucky with the SC, that's it.
Predictable outcome for Vet. Even wife said, when she saw that he lost the lead, "He'll do something stupid." Never liked him. Never will. Glad for Kimi.
Is Kimi still being investigated for his lap 1 incident? Seb could even end up with the championship lead still.
