Actually, if Kimi had not screwed up yesterday in quali he would have won. Bottas hit debris. You can't come to the conclusion that he would have hit hit if Seb had not tried to pass. As did Ferrari, re Kimi.

Seb should have waited to make the move, he’d been faster over a lap all weekend than the Merc. No need to go for it with cold brakes and tires with four laps left and DRS coming in two laps. The race engineer talks all the time...but doesn’t give him sound advice about not going for it, ugh. As has been said many times, the Red Bull’s were bound to collide. Max was very aggresive on prior attempts and Daniel was faster, should have let him go
Glad the stewards chose to leave the results unaltered. Max was definitely on the lucky side of the law today. He screwed up big time yet again. After his crash in FP and now this, I hope the team read him the riot act. He may well have totalled Riccis shot at the WDC with his immature driving. Clown.
Kudos to Mothers Wax and to ESPN for great, commercials-free, coverage again! Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I think the restart was actually his only chance to get by trying to outbrake Bottas....or when was the last time a Ferrari or a Mercedes overtook each other WHEN ON THE SAME TYRES BOTH IN TYPE AND AGE? He tried and failed...in Melbourne Lewis lost his lead by the safety car and went for it resulting in a huge lock up but he was praised for at least trying. Now Seb is screwed for the second time by the safety car and Max but he is criticised for giving it a try...I don't understand the inconsistency here... Lewis had a lock up into turn one before his first pitstop without even anyone around bit he gets "kudos for keeping his nose clean" [emoji849] Gesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk
I agree, Seb had to go for it. If he hadn’t, we’d all be on here calling for his head because he lacked the drive and commitment. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but it never works if you don’t take the shot.
IMO he stood a better chance holding off and attempting again after T1. A good exit off of the corner combined with the draft was helping Max keep Ricciardo behind him the entire race. But I'm a fat dude sitting on a couch. Lol Vettel doesn't seem to handle change and drama well at all and that's nothing new. This won't be the last time he makes a mistake this season. I hope the drama keeps up. This has been a hell of a season so far!
Some really, really biased comments on Max this weekend. He left room for Ricciardo on the inside, Ricciardo expected Max to fully close the door instead and moved where he thought Max wouldn't be. Ric tried too hard. What Max is guilty of is not giving up his position when Ricciardo was clearly faster...but who actually does? Red Bull brass should've intervened and simply told the drivers to hold station after the pitstop (Ricciardo should've been ahead at this point, I still don't understand how Max got passed him again and by that margin?).
If I'm the team boss, I have to say they both acted poorly and not in the best interest of the team. If they want to keep racing without team orders, they have to not take such risks when attempting a pass. If they can't do that, then expect the team to take over those decisions. RB lost a ton of points yesterday.
Max simply needs a timeout-shame the FIA doesn’t have the balls to do it. He’s pissing away valuable points for his team, and since the FIA won’t do it Horner must. Unfettered it won’t be long before he causes a major incident. Ricciardo definitely gone from RBR next year. My 2 cents....
Yes, exactly. But the team know both drivers very well, and know full well neither would yield even if they recognize the other is faster. Only by implementing proper team orders (hold station unless ordered different after last stop) will such situations minimize. I was actually surprised Max gave the 1 cars width to Ricciardo on the inside, after that he very faintly moved back to the racing line, presumably expecting Ricciardo on the inside and setting himself up for a better exit so he could have a run at Ric back into T2-3. At the same time Ricciardo fully expected max to completely block off the inside and tried going round the outside instead, but Max was there....It's a **** result, **** happens but I don't really hold much blame to either driver, it's quite simply a racing incident. But that doesn't matter to the mob here, it's Max's fault because he crashed into Vettel last week.
Well that was exiting. They had a full reset at the end, Merc and Ferrari on the same tires with 4 cars intermixed, with a 4 lap shootout. Awesome. Too bad Vettel blew it. Had he waited a few more corners, and set up a real pass, he would have won. They showed pace the whole weekend to get ahead. Max is a dumba**. He bought the dummy and came back across. Obviously Ricci was "too close", he was going for a pass lol. Max should have known he was coming back across and just defended the inside line, brake a little deeper and hold off the attack from the outside like he'd done before. No race craft, just a dumb kid thinking "I'm the best, he'll never pass me" Talk about bad luck for Bottles. Someone upstairs didn't want him to win. The only thing that matters is that Max went to close a door that he should have known was never going to work. Between the slip stream, DRS, and Danny Ric being a monster late braker, he should have been able to discern that was always going to cause an incident by moving back to the inside. Idiot.
Totally mixed about this. You know who wouldn’t have gone for it ? Lauda The master of playing the percentages. On the other hand I’m pleased Seb still cares enough about each race victory to go “full on”. I’m glad Kimi is fighting “the dying of the light” like a tiger. We have the best car. Keep the faith.
