I'm interested in going to Monaco this year, early June. But I don't want to fight the usual crowds. Some of the tours including access to the paddock (which I want to do) are expensive. No way to tell which ones are good or bad. Anyone with an opinion? Experience?

    Thanks in advance

monaco gp is a cluster. way too many people in a small space. dont even think about seeing monaco at the same time as the race is on.

best spots to see the race are from a balcony, i prefer start/finish, st devote, and mirabeau.

good luck finding a hotel for less than $1k/night in town.

long story short, it is a fantastic race weekend, provided that you, or the person who invited you, has spent enough money...... :)

Race is May 27 not in June - good summary above

Try to book either thro official Monaco ACM or F1 experiences sites for best & safest experience

There are good threads on this subject in the F1 section- do a quick search and you'll find a wealth of info there (some of it from me, as I've been to the Monaco GP every year since 1992- this will be my 27th visit).
It's too late now, but if you'd bought the new, pricey ticket package months ago from the ACM that allows you to choose your seat in the high rows of the most desirable grandstands, you also get better access to the pit walk on Friday afternoon- at least that's what I've been promised. Regular tickets may still be available through the ACM website (www.acm.mc), but if not, they're available on the street via the secondary market, as is access to various balconies overlooking the circuit.
As for hotels, $1K/night would be a huge bargain in MC, and it's way too late to find a room in town as most are booked year-to-year- I confirm mine when I check out each year. You'll likely need to stay in Nice or elsewhere and take the train in.
