Yep... agree with this. I'm not exactly sure why they don't do this but my guess is to protect the gearbox and clutch when re-engaging at speed. I like the way the F430 did it better. But, they are using the gearbox from a Dodge Dart so there are limitations.

406 in the USA vs 3200 488's in the USA

Now, let's talk about Ferrari "exclusivity" again! :)

That can't be right - 406? I don't see these often, but I have seen some out and about.

I would have figured closer to 3,000 as a wild ass guess...

That's in one year. But the fact is that the 4c is much, much rarer than the 488 or 458.

Its not that. Its that most people never have seen them. When you meet another car enthusiast all they want to talk about is this little car.

Never will we see another pure CF tub in a car under $100 grand again. That will make it a classic, along with its great looks.

The old saying goes "you don't appreciate something until it's gone". The 4c is the last pure sports car we in the US will ever see.

I just drove one for a few hours.... I literally laughed out loud. I have smiled, but not laughed during a drive in a while. What a wonderful car. No way will anyone build anything like this ever again. Someone, somewhere, had the balls to green light this project and we all owe that guy a beer. Cheers to Alfa for having the stones to build this wonderful little beast.

That is the way I felt when I drove one the first time. Can't believe they made a car like that but glad they did!

Have been advising people to get to a dealer to try one out before it is too late and it is not a current model anymore.

I have spent a few hours searching the web for a red one. :) or a black one :) I can only describe the experience as a cross between a modern day Stratos and a Ducati 999. The production numbers are crazy low and I'm having a hard time understanding how they are available for so cheap. Definitely a fun little toy.... and oh my, what a beauty.

In the end, what people typically want his AGT car. This is certainly not a GT. It is small, tight, little luggage room, but damn fun to drive.

By the way, alpha of Omaha has red and black spiders in stock.

My first tow. 3 years and it never failed to get me where I wanted to go. Dead cell in the battery. Not unexpected.

Towing no problem with normal truck.

$265 parts and labor for replacement. The dealer is jumping on it immediately. Just waiting for it to be done.

    Hopefully no electrical gremlins.

Launch editions are the best. Has all the goodies. But no spiders. Only coupes.

Check out http://eurocompulsion.net for stage 1 or 2 tune. Very reasonable price. Takes the car to approx 320bhp. The clone will update the ECU and TCU. Gives more midrange torque.

Turns out it was under warranty. No charge for the battery. But it started throwing some warning icons later in the day. Traction control not working. I’ll have the dealer check it out as it’s driving fine.

Probably because the new battery isn’t charged up all the way. Connect it to the battery tender and let it condition and top off the battery. It should solve all the problems.

Where I live I can't use a battery tender. But this car does not go dead after 5 or 6 weeks of sitting alone. My Ferrari's would be dead in 2 or 3.

I think you may be right about the battery not being fully topped up. Today I'm taking it on a long drive to get the codes back into the computer so I can smog it.

Took it out today on two long drives to get the codes back into the ECU for the smog test. The code failures stopped so my guess was the new battery was just a bit flat when they first put it in. Seems to be perfect again.

If I sit for a half hour listening to the radio with the car in “accessory” position, I will get the lights on my dash. The battery does not have much stamina. I wish the car had a true accessory key position instead of an on/run and a start position. (I wish it had parking light position instead of just headlight position too) I take my transistor radio with me now if I know I’ll be sitting awhile. I do use the tender now, and even after long rides, it seems the tender still ads more to the battery. It actually took a few days before the battery went to five lights. Maybe sometime you should take the battery in the house and hitch it up and condition it?

Hmmm.. that's interesting. I never used the car in accessory mode. I've left the car alone over 5 weeks and it started no problem when the battery was newer. But my last two times I had to jump start it after a month. This last time the battery definitely had a dead cell. It looks like a hassle to take the battery out. I do have a portable battery charger that I can hook up but this time -- no deal.

I had the privilege of instructing at my local Ferrari dealer's track day. Weather was perfect, warm but not hot, sunny and dry. Field was good mix of mostly late model v8s (458, few 488) and a TR plus a few other brands. I was fortunate to be paired with an experienced driver with a 458. To my judgment, the 458 manages the track well with good grip, great sound and predictable behavior.

After my duties were over, I had the pleasure of a few laps in another car (s2000) owned by one of the mechanics and then in my 4c, first as driver and then as instructor.

The 4c manages itself well. Steering is heavy - we all know that by now, and mine has updated steering blocks that add more castor - but the car was predictable and fun. Quite quick although running out of steam at the top of the rev range (it's biggest shortfall?), handling was predictable and precise. The taughtness of the suspension and relative lack of weight means it tends to be well controlled.

It really is a mini exotic. Not out of place with its more prestigious name plate siblings.

I'd like it to pull through 7000 rather than run out of steam at 6000 but worry that more power would test the gearbox cooling. My '16 has an air scoop in front of the LR wheel not seen on the earliest model years if memory serves. Alfa did this for a reason.

The journey to the track involves a section of typically poor, rutted highway. The taut suspension so good on the track is unforgiving over the bumps. Can't have everything on a $65,000 car.
