carbone cockpit structure NA V12 Replacement 488 will not have carbone cocpit structure, a turbo engine, particulate filter and will respect low noise emission : Wahou, future is great ! and maybe electric car from 2030
488 Pista hasn't any carbon fiber chassis structure and has a turbo engine: it's a great car and all the world is going mad to have it. The replacement will be faster than the Pista: as always happens, of course. It reminds me the 30 years old discussions about the ABS and then about the TC and ESP systems: now all Ferrari have them and no complaints. ciao
U are a dreamer : perhaps Pista will be the end of a car vision. your comparison is not valid : it's very easy to take off ABS, TC ESP on current cars electric cars can be faster : and then ?
yes, but (almost) nobody wants to take out ABS and so on, as there is a setting where they just help you to do what you want without taking out anything. You can always remove the batteries from a LaFerrari, if you do want. In any case, I think I will sell you my carbed 308 GTB when I will be too old to drive it: It even hasn't the fuel injection... ciao
We have the same passion I prefer NA engines ( Speciale has be best V8 NA engine ever made) but turbo engines is a part of Ferrari DNA : 288 GTO, F40 but nobody can touch the electric settings of LaFerrari : Ferrari forbids it even in maintenance and very high risk of electrocution
we are going a bit too much offtopic; maybe better stop here and come back in topic. In any case I agree with you about one thing: the 488 Pista is very likely the last mid engine Ferrari model with just one engine. ciao
5712 I own too however 5 year wait on 5711 so will try get 5726. Agree life is short and our passion is being killed by governments that think they can know better. Make the most of it and those who can get a Pista - DO IT !!
Like most these videos, they show off the sound on cold start and then the engine dies down to its natural state and then needs to be revved up under load to get the true sound happening. 488 and Pista sound incredible to me. To say otherwise is just BS. For a turbo v8, it is better than just incredible! And, it goes like a bat out of hell!
Carbon structure is not needed (superfluous) in 488/Pista. Just creates a bother to get in and out. GT2RS has shown that to be the case as well.
Agreed. My 488 GTB sounded incredible. It had a guttural, throaty growl. Loved it. I always laughed at the constant barrage from people who claimed the 488 didn’t sound great. Total BS. I’m very certain the Pista will sound even better.
I have noticed those who criticize the sound of 488 are usually in slower cars or slower Ferrari models. That is their problem and, that is their way of making themselves feel good about their un-fixable issues. It reminds me of the song "cry me a river".
I never did understand the logic. I have a 89 328 GTB. I love that car but obviously it doesn’t perform anywhere near the level of a 360, for example. But, that doesn’t mean that I feel the need to criticize 360’s to make myself feel better.
I think it was just tougher on the 458 crowd when 488 was released as 458 was sitting very pretty on top of the Ferrari pile for some years and then Speciale came out only to get knocked off its perch shortly afterward. I can understand the agro. Pista is just making matters worse there. Time may heal the wounds. One can only hope.
Those of us that have been doing turbo for the last few years know that an aftermarket exhaust can make all the difference if the sound is too muted. I made my M5 sound way better by adding an aftermarket exhaust and using high flow cats and headers. Did the same for my 991tts and the same for the Cayenne TTS. All of those turbo engines really came to life. If my 488 isn't loud enough, it's getting an exhaust. If a Pista owner who plans to keep his car doesn't feel the sound is loud enough and wants to improve it, there will be aftermarket exhausts. These cars are insanely powerful with the turbos, I would think that is a good benefit from the slight loss in sound that can be made up. The car in the video is really good looking and sounds good too. Lucky Pista owner!
I know in my little corner of the world officially 10 Speciales came to New Zealand and no Apertas. I believe the number of Pistas is double that according to the dealer. And multiple Pista Apertas too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Which hopefully is a good sign for the Australians. But it has been hard to pin down the dealer with a definite yes or no. He muttered about "you'll get one as long as its tailor made" but I don't remember any issues when the speciale came out and I just ordered one. The only thing that took time was working out how to delete the radio in the order system!
