I had a fiat2300S that could easily keep up with one and the fiat had a better gearbox but a weak sound And I can just sit in Satan at idle to be happy, so it's not all about speed but it sure helps

Oh Bullsh^T! I drove Rob's 2300 Abarth equiped a couple of years ago...............................zero comparison,except for road feel. The performance of the 330 is so far over the 2300 you could read War and Peace while the 2300 caught up
The only Abarth equipped part of the 2300 is the sump, and a properly built 2300S engine will pull a genuine 237 kph ...... ask me how I know Sure the acceleration isn't quite as good as the 330 but it handles and stops just as well as any car from the era these two cars were made in. I drove my 2300S like a maniac (just like we did your 330/365 on THAT trip) and I remarked to you at the time I was driving the 330 that it was VERY similar to the 2300S, the 365 was far ahead of both cars in ability and performance Would I have the 2300S back , ...... nope Would I want a 330, ...... nope Would I like a 365, .... yep, great GT car Would I prefer any 355 over any of them , .... yep
Klink is correct on this - the 2300 is a 'baby' 330 same as an X1/9 is a 'baby' 308. I've driven both the 330 and 2300 and the 2300 is a great car, but NOT the equal of its grown up cousin. As it happens the 2300 register had a get together in Tamworth recently and in the FCCQ (monthly ) magazine I wrote in summary "the Fiat straight 6 may be no match for the power of the V12, and it might not have quite the wow factor, but you still definitely feel you're driving a true Italian Grand Tourer." 2300 is a great car, but not equal to the 330.
Well you can both be wrong then I'm a Ferrari bigot but the 2300S , not the crappy 2300, is just as good for the very reason that this was the first engine Lampredi worked on when he left Ferrari to join FIAT. The pistons in the 2300S are nothing like the pistons in the 2300, the nitrided crank is as tough as they come and it pulls from idle all the way to it's redline with just as much smoothness if not torque as the 330 Take Klink and me back 40 years, me in the 2300S and him in the 330 on the Putty Rd and it would be a scary ride in either car with me bobbing up and down in his mirror only because he would have got the jump on me at the start
It was a 2300S I drove (Jim B) and I stand by my comments. If you think you could beat Klink in the 330 your memory is shot!
