I dunno. I don't hear anything incredibly relative to the exhaust. It sounds like a Sounds pretty good, but keep in mind that appears to be revving indoors. That can drastically change the sound. A magazine posted a track day video recording audio from inside, and it really didn't sound anything like that. It was not exactly a studio recording device or anything, but still didn't sound much like these videos.
as I already wrote here, the Pista has a very nice sound (heard on an open road following a prototype). A bit different from the 488 GTB, a bit sharper. I haven't a 488 nor a Pista, but every day there are several brand new 488s around the factory going out for testing so you can easily appreciate the sound from the outside. No idea of the sound inside the cabin. ciao
It’s deep and throaty but just lacks the raw wail of the NA engine. Still... it sounds great... just not what I associate with a Ferrari. It’s just not unique anymore. There’s a guy I see around here with a 430 Scud. When he gets on it... it’s magic. It satisfies every preconceived notion that I’ve ever had.
Totally understand what you’re saying. We all have our preferences. I prefer more of a throaty growl over a scream. Either way, I wouldn’t associate the Pista’s sound with what many thinknof when they hear from a turbo engine.
Sounds like a Ferrari engine to me and everyone else I've heard independently comment on the engine says the same thing - unmistakably Ferrari - so not sure how you can say it doesn't sound like a Ferrari engine? The 430 Ferrari lacks the high pitched scream of the NA F1 ferrari engine and the 488 turbo sounds basier - all different - but all clearly Ferrari.
Ferrari said 2x as loud as a 488, not that pitch or range changed, to be fair. It’s never going to be a screamer until they replace turbos with hybrid for the next model.
Yes. Speced mine out already. New configurator uses an iPad instead of touch screen monitor. Really cool.

I just thought the same thing! It's been a while since I drove that lovely beast as she has since left my stable, but it recalls the Scud. Ohhhh I'm loving it! And I think the guy driving knows what he's doing
Did they really say 2x as loud as 488 on the inside? I remember they said its on average 8db louder, but not sure if that is outside or inside. Decibels are a measure of sound pressure level and its not really a linear measurement. Every 3db is roughly a doubling of sound pressure. So if it is actually 8db then you're taking about nearly 3x. It all depends on how its measured etc. Bottom line is it will be louder. For me its not how much louder, but rather the quality of the sound. The only thing with the 488 that I don't really love is the sound. Its OK, but I keep thinking "its great - for a turbo". These you tubes just sound great period.
