Should tyre compound be allowed to change mid-season ?

With all the winter testing it seems a tad inequitable to change compounds once the season is underway. Presumably Pirelli could alter compounds for each race ? I do not have the FIA rulebook to hand.
Thoughts ?

Realist answer: Pirelli is so clueless that they always need to fix something along the way.

 

How many more compounds do we need?

Some one posted a chart, I don't remember how many levels of ultra-super-soft there are but there is a wide range of compounds.

The thing is weather at a track has specific likelihood of what it may be, and then there are the outlier days.

By the time you really know what the weather is going to be the supply chain is already fixed in place.

If 1 team is cooking the tyres, tough s***. It's your problem so you freakin fix it.

Pirelli should have left the tyres/tires as is for the whole season after Barcelona testing....period.

Note: 2013 is understandable as that issue was a structural/construction issue.

 

I agree but disagree with 2013. If it was a legitimate issue why was the test conducted in secrecy?

Absolutely not. The fia has allowed Mercedes to cheat and Pirelli put itself in a position where they have let their customers down and shown a lack of propriety. They should be ashamed of themselves. I won’t be running Pirelli crap on my cars ever again

The FIA is a corrupt organization that should be abolished.

 

If the tires had blistering it would have made for a decent race. Make teams have to pit more than once. OH MY GOD IMAGINE!

 

The racing was better with 3 compounds.
DRY, INTERMEDIATE and WET

The racing was better when pit lane speed was "as fast as you can go and still stop in your box" too.

The answer is no unless for worries of it exploding that's it. The only true fair thing to start with those tyres will be to do it next pre season. I dislike changing midseason tyres cause it throws too many variations to how it will perform again especially in a competitive like F1. It is beyond facepalm that the FIA allowed this to affect a championship.

 

What Fia should be thinking is stop trying artificiality try to make it "exciting" by changing tires to be unpredictable. Preilli can make a good tyre. It's just that FIA has other ideas from what I read. They absolutely wants to have variables on each one tier to have different temperature of working range for different rate of pit stop. Problem is that it becomes more unpredictable which gives us these headaches of soft is all round better than Supers.
