Exactly. It might be even more important today. ...and a race is a large amount of seat time. Drivers debrief on the race w engineers. The perfect example is how badly Merc has struggled with tires and how they are figuring it out. If engineers didn't need drivers than they surely would have avoided those issues day 1. Or look at how the teams are always tweaking the car during practice leading up to Qualy and the race. It's largely based on driver feedback. Not to mention the benefit of all the simulator work.
Bingo As for Schumacher's testing abilities: he was great at driving constantly for long periods of time. Once they cut down on testing days his input became less important and useful as evidenced how MB did not develop for the longest time
Name one man in F1's record books who has more consistency or more fast laps to win pole? Or more wins from pole (Hint, there isn't one) Lewis passed Michael Schumacher record today, earning points in 30 races in a row? Lewis beat Schumacher record of 68 poles (Lewis = 74). Lewis beats Michael Schumacher’s record with 41 wins from pole. Michael Schumacher is the gold standard at F-chat, yet Lewis sucks. LOL
1.Please name another driver that has won so many races ans hasn't got one single memorable victory to his credit. 2.Please name another driver that won a championship because a proven fixed race was alowed to count for the championship. 3.Please name another driver that was caught lying to the stewards in order to get another drivers penalized . 4.Please name another driver that had such a dominat car for such lenght of time. 5.Michael is in fact the gold standard at F-chat and at F.1. Lewis sucks..period.
Silverstone 2008? 1994 Benetton - stuck in 5th and made a pitstop to change tyres? With no traction control??? Hmm, well there was the parking the car in Monaco qualifying incidents, and couple of incidents of driving into other cars to win (or attempt to win) a world championship. One of which was considered so serious it resulted in losing all points for the year. Schumacher 2000 - 2004. Personal tyres and patsy teammates too.
Nope, Elton drove well at silverstone but basicly Mclaren hit the jackpot with the rain settings, it was more due to that than anything else, still it was by far Elton's finest hour...but nothing that much special, not when you think of driver like Michael's in spain 96 or others at Spa, or Alesi's at spain 92 or japan 95, or Prost at mexico 1990, or Mansell at Hungaroring 1989 or Silverstone (almost every year)....no, not even close... Sorry, don't know ehat your talking about, in 94, Michael did 5 races less than Damon , everything was done to favour the brit and stll they failed miserably...the plank story at spa was just ridiculous, as was suspending him for a ouple of races over a decision his team made, not him....under normal circunstances he would have won that championship 3 races before the end! Still don't see where he was lying to try and frame another driver... No, during that period there where times of decent oposition, 2000 the Mclaren was pretty decent car, 2003 both Mclaren and willimas had competitive cars....Merc has held an enourmous advantage for 4 straigh years in a row....
You guys remember when I posted this, and all of you thought I had lost my mind? Well some of you should eat some crow now . Although I am rooting for Ferrari for the last few years, give Hamilton the Credit he Deserves...
Elton is still a tool, he could win a hundred championships with Mercedes, they’ll all mean nothing about him, they are all about the car Please note that the views expressed in this post are my own and do not reflect nor imply that they are those of FChat or its affiliates. They are personal reflections only
And being a broken record doesn't make him anymore right. Mick Schumacher is an F1 God but Lewis sucks lol! Hyperbolic BS
Almost 11 years late but: 1. No [Championship was gifted to him by Toyota] 2. No [There were and are better drivers than him] 3. Never. Thank you very much P.S. I do not hate / dislike Lewis. Just in case.....
So he doesn’t drive for Ferrari , undoubtedly he has had superior equipment and cars , especially the last 5 years , but rarely sets a foot wrong . In order to finish first , first you have to finish and , like it or not , he does not make that many mistakes . The stats do not lie , there have been other drivers in dominant cars over the years and Lewis is one of the best. There is no such thing as GOAT but , one has to give credit where credit is due and he is very good , the continuous bashing has gotten beyond boring
The record speaks for itself. His consistency week in and week out in qualifying and on race day is superior. He rarely makes costly mistakes and his impressive points gap over Bottles shows the impact of the driver and not just the superior car. As is typical at this time of the year, he is able to turn his racecraft up a notch during the European leg and really put pressure on his competitors.
he does..he's a sucker! and still hasn't one a single title that didn't involve cheating, from his part or the team....
Nico only won one because the team prevented him form competing against Elton the years before..it's as simple as that...
Wow, Lewis won in a two-car championship against Nico 2-1 And against a Butler 2-0. Let's take a bow for the greatest achievement in human history Gesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk
taking a side step away from him having a competitive car, you look at his history over 11 seasons 2007 - 2018, he has lost to a teammate once. Once. The same can be said about Vettel. And Alonso. These drivers still have to beat the guy on the other side of the garage with equal equipment and time and time again these drivers (in this era at least) have beaten their teammate over a long season. I think that is impressive.
