Cheers Gary. Already spoke to Pierre. He may be able to help but needs some more info which I’m hoping to get to him tomorrow.

Would be worth a call to a few specialists.

Someone will know; Steve, have you put a thread up in the 355 section?:

I’ll put this up in the 355 section and if Pierre can’t help I’ll give Marc a call.

I'm sure I've heard of these being replaced before, I just wish I could remember where and when. As usual, I'm useless.

I appreciate the thought. If it comes to you, please let me know.

I’m sure it can be done. Makes no sense at all to throw out an entire F1 pump because of a solenoid.

The solenoids are in the actuating unit, separate to the pump, which is only a $600 part (user Alfa Selespeed part number when ordering).

Solenoids are not detachable from the actuator body (on a 575 at least) which is why you have to replace the whole unit. However, I've been assured by more than one F-mechanic that they rarely give trouble.

The dealer has offered to remove the solenoid and photograph it so I can find the right one.
Should have that tomorrow. They have also offered to install the new solenoid when I get one.

Obviously I’m pretty clueless here but my understanding is that the 355 pump is different to virtually all the others that came after (such as 575) so maybe on this one it is possible. Certainly everything I’m hearing so far suggests so.

Surprised no one found this issue earlier on Steve. If you had shifting issues, one of the first things I would have checked would have been the solenoids.

We check, test and replace solenoids on mining machinery every other day, it's one of the first things we look at when a transmission starts to shift funny or loses transmission gears totally.

We also use solenoids in other parts of all different machines underground. A very common part and it's always prone to fail on the equipment we use.

See how you go mate, hopefully they are on the right track this time

Lol, not these ones as they are a little large. But we do have many others, one that I am sure you could make fit and work on the 355 F1 system.

For what it’s worth I recon a tired f1 pump motor will make shifts sluggish at low revs just a theory
