But it didn't trigger me, really; I just think that speaking about "reboot", the 458 would be the perfect 308 reboot indeed. Visually, it is the only Ferrari that I find "acceptable/nice" since the 355 and 550. And 360/430 do not qualify as a 308 reboot: visually there is no clue, no nod to the 308 styling.
So if you reboot a 1980 movie/serie that had a 308 in it, the 458 is the perfect reboot to me in 2015 or so (Yes, theoretically we should accept the 488 but...I don't like the 488 at all, mainly because the side scoops are too big and ugly to me).

(Strangely, I know of a 308 QV with a 328 interior, châssis 56483, Red/Black, a modification that escapes me completely - although I suppose it has not been done by the factory; and which escapes buyers too, because that car has been for sale for ages...but I don't know about any 328 with a 308 interior, something that would have made more sense)

So who here owns that car in the pic?

THIS one can't be kept a mystery (like any of the three used in the pilot episode)

The 308 breaks down in the first episode and Neo-Magnum has to use Uber to get around for the rest of the season.

I will be very surprised if they actually feature a 308 in the new version. I have no doubt they’re just using it in publicity shots to play on our nostalgia for the original show. Speaking of which, I also have no doubt that it’ll be awful! Just slapping the name Magnum P.I. on it is not going to make it a success. It wasn’t just the concept of the original show that made it work. It was the execution and vision of the creators, Glen Larson and, primarily, Donald Bellisario as well as the casting and chemistry of the original actors. The new show will be a procedural crime show and it will feature the same names of the original characters. But it will be a hollow and futile effort and will bear little resemblance to the beloved original. Just my two cents!

What revival (there's a new term for ya!) TV series is EVER as good as the original? Can you imagine a MASH remake w/o the original guys or, worse yet, politically correct types? How about Happy Days with an updated cast? Can't wait to see Fonzie's "office" (the men's room at Arnold's) being used by millenial women ...

Anyone remember the original opening - different theme song and we got to hear him start the 308?

I think it only lasted about the first 4 episodes, maybe 5.

Why wouldn’t they use the 308? After all it’s a timeless design which means it’s still look modern even today, so instead of using a current model F car might as well stay with the original. It’s the characters that they need to concentrate on to get the “right” Thomas Magnum.

That's stretching it! The design is beautiful, but modern looking? o_O

Unfortunately I find it hard to believe that they will stay with the 308. But again... you never know....

I just watched the trailer. The 308 dies in the first episode.

Did you notice the gasoline lid opening when the car gets crushed? It's a Fiero.

    I'm on the fence.

I found myself grinning watching that trailer. Hearing those names, seeing the ring and the car again.

I am going to hate myself if I end up likeing that show. Thing is, there is NO way I can't watch it.

Looking at the whole trailer more carefully, it's worst than I could have ever imagined. Of course there are the continuity issues, the 488 transforms into a 458 (probably a fake one?), and as pointed out before the crushed 308 is evidently a Fiero, but more than that, although I originally thought they made a good choice with the 488, it looks like we'll eventually get to see a black California for the rest of the series, which is, for me, one of the worst choices that could have been done... Not to mention the fact this trailer basically shows everything that happens in the pilot...

I guess I'll watch the pilot for the 308, and that's probably it.

From the producer of Fast and Furious so it's going to be over the top stupid stunts and CG ******** all the time. The original show was at least somewhat based in reality. Yeah turn the car sideways, climb the truck and grab a helicopter. That seemed real. :(

Hollywood has officially run out of ideas...

That guy in the car would be better cast on HBO's Silicon Valley

Episode 2: Magnum chases a Toyota Minivan but it escapes. (just kidding, just KIDDING!)

The car should be a 488 spider. Remakes never match up. Leave the originals ALONE, come up with something new.

Beyond the F&F stunt stupidity... ugh, the dialog. It sounded like excited cosplayers reading lines in a school play.

Which means it will probably (unfortunately) be a hit.

Had they called me to be some creative consultant, I could have made this a decent product - even though my first recommendation would have been "don't do it"

I wonder how many people with their hands directly in this project have never even seen one episode? I'm guessing somewhere near 100%.

    Maybe more
