Sorry, I posted, politely, to allow the filter to do it's job. He ignored that request, with a rather more vulgar than usual expletive.

And I think you'd be surprised. I know you guys think no one wanders in here, but folks do, and it's a public part of the forum, something most of you guys seem to lose sight of. Given that, some small amounts of decorum need to exist.

No disrespect, but the only thing stopping “the public” accessing the silver part of the forum is some money in the owners pockets.

And when they get there, they will find no shortage of Yee-Ha gun-totin “Check out this new weapon that can blow other people’s heads off even easier than the last model” crap, but that’s less offensive than a bit of bad language?

You lot seriously need a reality check. Banning Greg for “profanity” is a total joke.
Especially in the context of a gun thread.

Greg246's comment was directed at Horse and he was being derogatory to Horse for letting the profanity filter do its job. It had nothing to do with guns or the user arguing about gun laws. And it was directly after DM warned users about not circumventing, which falls in the category of "suicide by moderator".

Further, this is a public part of the forum. Aussies have gotten waivers on SOME of the rules, including talking politics and being more "in your face" with their language. Without those waivers, this thread wouldn't be here. Those waivers apply to the section, not to the users, and some of the Aussies here have the experience that the same behavior gets a ban on the rest of the forum. So since these partial waivers apply to the section, other users get to come here and talk gun politics too, they don't have to be Aussies and they don't have to go to the subscribed sections.

Finally, this is a public thread expressing disdain and disbelief about guns, American gun politics, and a large number of Americans. And you don't think that some of those Americans aren't going to see it and express some contrary comments? Most of the Americans have been pretty polite, but if the American users came here en masse, they would also get a waiver on the same "in your face" comments that you guys have been using against the last user. Now THAT would be an epic dustup.

We're champions at "in your face" and we don't cry about it and don't need mods to protect our sensitive feelings

I've reported posts just to see what will happen and as usual NOTHING but someone says wee, poo or bum and you're all over it

I've been on fchat since it started in 2000 and at first it was a great source of help and I REALLY enjoyed the American Ferrari input and jocularity but with the advent of social media it has turned into a shambles with non-sensical input from the great unwashed and easily offended.

I've had the great gun debate on a forum in 1991 when I worked for DEC (DEC were the best multinational I ever worked for) , wasn't resolved then, never will be, but one thing WAS obvious, the rest of the world did not believe the dribble coming from our American colleagues who we worked with on MANY large projects and were incredibly intelligent but had this chink in their armour when it came to guns.

Eventually guns will be your undoing if it isn't already, sad really, I know lots of Americans who are brilliant and funny to talk to but this right to bear arms BS is just leading to dead school kids and you do nothing to stop it

In the Aussie section we're all mates that have socialised together so to ban Greg for supposedly having a go at Horse is ludicrous, they are the best of mates and deliberately have a dig at each other BECAUSE that is what we do here !!

Rob didn't realise it with the English MANY years ago and they broke away and formed their own website (ask Rob Lay about that episode)

I think you will find Greg and Horse are very good mates and you have mistaken it for good old banter......Maybe put a big red sign in neon lights on the Aussie section......HTFU before entering should give people a good heads up.......
