Wondering about the current line of thinking regarding brake calipers.

Looks best when they are obvious and stand out or look best when subtle and blend in ?

I think it depends on the exterior finish of the car. But yellow looks good on most colours.

Yup, agree 100%. Yellow calipers look pretty nice to my eyes.

Im of a different opinion. Every car I have owned if it didn't have a 5 spoke wheel I bought aftermarket. Also always had to be silver. With that im a silver calliper guy. This combo imho can be used on any colour from pink to black. Im pretty much a monochromatic guy. Let the car colour stand out

The black calliper is lost. The red and the yellow stand out too much for me. Ultimately the decision would be what the car colour is.

It really depends on the overall spec of the car. I see it both ways.

Not many have gone my way but I love silver on silver. And traditional 5 spoke.

looks great - silver on silver rocks. i had the dark wheels on my ff since 2012 and i had always considered painting my calipers black or red. then i switched to silver lusso wheels and the calipers popped like crazy. silver on silver is great

Even the type of wheel you are using. The older Challenge Style wheels hide more of the caliper so you could do a bright caliper more easily since you don't see as much as you do on the more open modern wheels. And today's calipers are larger too...

Ultimately I voted stand out because I wanted to see the results... I gave a slight nod to stand out on this poll. I figured as its a Ferrari, I'll go a little aggressive.

I voted yes because I like the way they stand out. I have yellow calipers, yellow center caps and yellow fender badges, and they go well together.
That having been said, a friend of mine who just bought a new (non Ferrari) car said that so many people are getting colored calipers that they are becoming "me-too".
    But I don't care

I like when everything "flows" together. Calipers, stitching, cluster, belts etc.... I do not like the hard contrast as much if it does not match anything else....

That was my idea - I have the red callipers with red stitching, red seat belts and red rev counter :)

It goes without saying and I agree with the fact that it all should match and "flow" together.

However, I was wondering when speccing my new car if I should go with calipers that "shout" or "whisper" ( given the fact that it all will match ).

I voted "stand out" but I agree with William, it depends on what you're going for in your spec. Hot red/yellow racer for the track or burning up the back roads = stand out. More GT-style boulevard cruiser with the wife = blend in...T

Then I guess William has it backwards. His racer blends in and his GT stands out.

Which is why when I bought my car from Tampa and they offered to paint the calipers red I decided not to do it. The red wouldn't have worked with the white stitching and white Cavallino on the interior. I like red calipers but unless they go with the rest of the details then they don't fit. This guy did a really nice job making my car look good. I didn't just buy the car because it was available now and the right price but because it really is a good combination of colors and looks good to my taste, same with my Cali T HS.

I bought other people's specs but they suit my taste. :)

Personally I like red, but I will only buy red Ferrari’s. I also like red with black cars. I’m not for yellow under any circumstances. I do like silver calipers but only on blue cars. Black is fine, but I do like some contrast because the calipers (and braking/suspension components in general) are now such an integral part of the modern cars looks.

I'm a big fan of the yellow but there's no right or wrong choice as it's all personal preference. That's the beauty of having choices and options like this - you choose what works best for you. After-all you're paying for it.

I voted for stand out because I really wanted a car with charcoal wheels and yellow calipers. However, I wound up finding a car with diamond cut wheels and aluminum/silver colored calipers. At first I was really upset, but the look grew on me and I like it now. I mostly like the fact that my car is more unique for it, plus the silver calipers match the silver seat belts and silver stripe down the racing seat. All that said, I still prefer the look of charcoal wheels with yellow calipers, lol.

Speaking for myself, a caliper should stand out. I feel there is beauty to it. I think a contrast to the wheel is important too. I bought my car pre-owned and the calipers were Grigio Silverstone. So I went with acid green from Porsche.
