I always listen. I don't get any choice. But always when she finds out after I have bought it. Then I let it wash over me!

I fear, however, that if I were to trade the house for, say, a Miura, and tell her that her living space is the passenger seat, and the boot is her wardrobe, it might be her lawyer speaking, not she.:(

The last one to sell publicly (CSX2601) was one of the best (it was the car Bondurant drove to a victory at Reims in 1965 thus winning the WSC for GT and highly original) and fetched circa $7 million in 2012 and compared to GTO sales that same year at around the $35 million mark. The market has essentially doubled since then and that particular Shelby Daytona sold at Mecum and pretty low so $15 - 20 million if one was offered in 2018.

Awesome news, the investment of the millennium isn’t IT stock shares, it is the 250 GTO.

Yes, I'd agree for this millenium. However, if you go from the last 250 GTO peak price prior to the collapse in 1990, it has not outperformed the S&P500. January 1990 price sold for $13mm highest before the bust and this one is $70mm. That's 438% increase. Compared to S&P that went up 700% in same time frame and with dividends reinvested up 1336%. Maybe this $70 million is the peak. I give it 2 more years of a new record price set before the next recession starts.

250 GTO is more fun, though. :) I'm sure the life experiences it provides and the new friends you make along the way can't be replaced. ;)

I think it's a combination of a fairly high-ticket item and volume. Not only direct to the consumer but also apparently direct to some manufacturers.

As a comparison, Arturo Keller did *pretty well* ;) making car seats for the big 5; GM, Ford, Chrysler, Nissan and VW.

It seems there's money to be made in the auto industry if you can build a successful business that serves the industry well.

You should read about Shad Khan, the multi-billionaire owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars. His company makes car bumpers for Toyota....basically just plastic. Started with a SBA loan a long time ago.

WeatherTech mats for my daily driver cost $100 compared to $15 for a set of Goodyear mats from Costco. Both are made of rubber. While I'm sure the WT mats are nicer fitting, I'm not sure they perform better and I doubt they cost much more to make even though they're made in the U.S.

There's a lot of margin in those mats!

I got it, he bought the GTO to be able to measure it properly and develop an exclusive line of mats for those cars..small niche market though

In the world of $500k watches and other baubles, perhaps that isn't a joke?
