Hello Friends: My name is Pool and I'm from Spain. I've many problems with my f430, after driving it 3-5 kms F1 fails and go to N, the gears doesn't respond, nothing change if you turn on turn of, then if I wait 2-3 hours the car runs again. Fail in memory are P1742 selectin potenciometer, P1735 self powering relay driver, P1770 gear engagements with wrong shifts, p1781 relay drive pump stuck or pump pilotage relays stucked. Any info about fix it? regards
First change the F1 relay. It has likely failed or if you are unlucky the pump motor is wearing which is overloading the relay. Try the relay first and see how you go - there may be another issue to sort but start with the basics.
Take her to someone with an SD3 and have them diagnose the problem before throwing parts at her. Could be she just needs an F1 service and self test accomplished. They will change the F1 fluid, bleed the system, check for leaks, and run the self-test sequence. If she still has a problem, they can fix that when they know what it is for sure.
Continous with the problem. The symtomp's are these: Car runs ok for 10 minutes or about 100º temp. then go to N Sometimes waiting 4-5 minutes runs again, I can heard pump working and actuator trying to insert the gears but no result. Many times when is cold is very hard to insert reverse. Codes: P1741 Engament potenciometer, P1772 Opposite engament other times with P1742 Selection Potenciometer and P1770 Gear Engagements with Wrong shifts I already upgraded f1 pump and relay, also I have made purge and self learning. Any idea to fix it. regards
sounds like to me that you have an actuator problem. but id do like others say and get it hooked up to a SD3
I was driving down the road when I owned a 360 F1 and it went into neutral, but unlike yours, mine wouldn't go into gear. It was towed home and I diagnosed the fault (thru this site to be that little pump/motor that charges the F1 pump or something. It's in the right hand side under the cover. Easy to get at. If you open your drivers door you will hear a noise right? That should last a few seconds only. Mine went on for like 30 seconds which was the sign it was poked. Ferrari wanted $3000NZ for one, but I used one from a Alfa which is the identical part and cost $900.00. Go figure. I was chuffed that I fixed it myself though.
Hi I had a similar issue for five years. Changed the clutch 3 times, relay, pump, hydraulic fluid reservoir. We then did a part by part assessment. Luckily the owner of the garage also had a 360 f1 that he was prepared to let us use parts from his personal car. Firstly we changed the clutch, release bearing and put in all new parts as the clutch has become warped. None of that worked ! The car only does it when its running warm/hot correct ? The answer was the solenoids !! We used his unit and the car has been perfect since in traffic and hasn’t fallen into neutral in 5 months ! It was a pain and tool several weeks to get to the bottom of the issue. If you want you can call the owner of the garage his name is Ash and the garage is http://scuderiascaglieti.com/ Tell him that Maz give you his details. Good luck !
But they’ll take their crappy Toyota Camry to a mechanic every time for service and repair.[emoji849] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It seems the pump and relay swap fixed the pressure issue, which is good, but for the remaining issues take the advice above. There are a number of potential causes for the remaining codes and diagnosis is best performed in person.
It sounds like the actuator bleed screws again. Here's a link to a discussion on that issue. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/f430-removing-f1-actuator-to-tighten-bleed-screws.575003/#post-145959448
I had an issue once but thankfully it threw a code. F1 light and engine light on. Towed to ferrari, they bleed it still showed a problem so replaced the 2 potiemeters (not sure if that’s how it is spelled). They ran their computer on it and good as new. If your f1 actuator is failing, a company called GTE engineering rebuilds for much less than the outrageous price Ferrari charges.
I already change the 2 potenciometers but not result, same problem, now I've not codes on diagnostic,
You had to shut off the power to change the potentiometers so it isn't a surprise that there are no more codes. You really needed a reading from an SD BEFORE you did a power cycle. See post #5 and #11. Right now you are just throwing parts at this and hoping for a change.
I already diganostic with x431 no faults in gearbox, yesterday before stop it, car shows E-diff failure, May be a problem with e-diff valve or f1 acumulator? Things tested: New f1 pump Potenciometers Bleed f1 and clucth
Did this problem get fixed. If so, please add results. It’s appreciated when asking for help that the fix is posted by OP. Thanks.
Hello ShadowF430, do you remember if the code was "P1742"? Did the 2 potentiometers fail with the diagnosis? Thank you for your reply
F1 system is easily diagnosed with the proper equipment and a good understanding of how to use it. The other alternative is to go on the internet and ask for advice. That leads to well intentioned guesses, throwing parts at the problem, unsatisfactory results and an unreliable car. Just sounds like an easy decision to me but by all means do it your way.
As you said the F1 isn't that complex to diagnosis if you know what you are doing ... unfortunately I have found many "mechanics" at dealers or indies just don't have the skills. I have helped a number people in this forum that were being charged for parts and labor they didn't need. Had one person being asked to authorize 12k for a full new power until etc when all he needed was an accumulator and one solenoid Crazy ! Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
Agreed, don't just toss parts/money a it. Find someone who really knows what they're doing to help. For every @flash32 (F1 Jedi Master) there are two dozen morons that will "diagnose" your system into a money pit.
Scott I was never called that ..but love it..thank you I will help anyone I can as long as they can wrench and have the proper tools Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
I agree but the smart alternative is not the internet guessing game. There are bad lawyers, doctors, plumbers and mechanics. The cure is to get off your lazy butt and get a good one.
