BLUF: I'm driving to Montreal 7-11 June if you need a ride.

I'm meeting up with family to take in the F1 race in Montreal (and turn 40). Flying is more than I'd like to pay so driving it is. I'm leaving my house in Fairfax the morning of the 7th and departing Montreal the morning of the 11th. Not doing it in the Ferrari as gas would probably cost as much as the flight. I will be taking my diesel sportwagen for all of about $90 in fuel round trip. That said, I have empty seats if you're looking for a ride. I don't need reimbursement as I'm going anyway, but if I can help out some fellow tifosi and make the 9.5 hour drive more interesting, I'm in. So if you need a ride, meet requirements for entry to Canada and aren't weird in a bad way shoot me a PM.
    Cheers,

Getting ready to leave at 10am this morning. It has been 30 years since I've been to Montreal for the GP. Last year Spa and this year Canada. Next year ? Three of us in my Grand Cherokee loaded up like we're ready for the apocalypse . It good to know at 67 you still can feel like Sunday is Christmas.

Jumping on a flight out of Philly this morning
Merle and Chris if you never been there before you are in for a treat
Fantastic night life, great food and the track and race is usually very exciting.
Watching the speed and the braking of these cars in person is amazing and watching it on TV just doesn't capture it like being there in person .

First ever? I would not have believed that if you didn't mention it.

Well? Your thoughts on the whole experience?

Its ok. There is just so much to do that its hard meeting up with everyone.
I went this year with my 18 yr old son. His head exploded the minute he stepped on Crescent St.
and eyes popped out of his head at all the beautiful women on Peel street and at the pop up vodka tent party.
    What great time we had!

A week ago today at this time I was on Peel Street drinking outside at Ferreira admiring the beautiful women and being on cloud 9 since Ferrari just got pole.
    Good times!

The drive was not bad at all; pockets of traffic here and there but nothing enduring. EZ-pass is of course a huge help in breaking out of the pack. The scenery was nice in upstate NY. The race itself was a good time. Didn't venture out much, I stayed in Longueuil which is pretty low key. Of course after reading earlier posts I know where I'm going next year. Next road trip will be in the 308 to the annual meet, probably by way of Maine for a friend's wedding.

On that same day, we were getting the cars ready on Rue Sherbrooke for a road rally with a waterfront restaurant as the destination.

So my trip didn't go as planned, cruising along the NJ turnpike and a semi truck kicks up a tire at my S2000 from 3 lanes across. Ended up taking off my front lip and drove over the tire (not easily done). Luckily nothing too bad, car goes into the body shop on Monday for a full front end respray and a new front lip.

Unfortunately the race was a bit stale, but the experience was mind-blowing. I will certainly be going back in the years to come, hit up Peel and Crescent. Walked the track after the race and picked up some tire marbles. Driving back was a blast as well since everyone was coming from the race. It was a highway of car guys and the rest areas were all filled with fans. Rolled through NY with a black California, saw the radar detector on his dash and just sat behind him. Haha.

Sorry to hear about your incident!

Did you drive back Sunday after the race?

We always go to the best party of the weekend which happens at the track’s Heineken Zone right after the race.

I overdid it and woke up in my hotel at midnight wondering what happened.

    Canadian GP trips never disappoint!

Got up Monday and left, 10 hour drive following the race didn't sound fun. We managed to crawl through the fence and walk the track at the end of the race, that was a pretty cool experience in itself.

    Not looking good.
No restaurants are open or taking reservations
I do business with a construction company in Montreal. I just had a conversation with a woman I deal with and she isn’t hopeful.

I won’t be planning on going to the Canadian GP for at least another year. I’m not expecting the city to open it up to fans this year.
