Hey guys, my name is Brandon and i am a new member to this community. I wanted to share a project i tackled this week on a clients 1987 Testarossa with 11k miles. I was approached to build a custom stainless exhaust system from the manifolds back with the stipulation that no permanent modifications could be made to the vehicle or oem exhaust. In other words, every piece had to be built from scratch and engineered to bolt up to oem hangers and etc.

Every component is T304 stainless steel. The billet merge collector, velocity cone, flanges and hangers were all designed in house by myself and my machinist. The attention to detail and symmetry really speaks for itself and compliments a vehicle hand built so many years ago.

Here are the end results. I am super happy with the overall aesthetics, packaging and sound.

first of all: welcome to this Fchat forum brandon and thx for filling out your profile a little. but where you are living, what part of this small world?

looks really great and also you used the good V-clamps :)
the exhaust itself you also made by yourself or is it a stock exhaust?

Thank you, i am from Western MA (US).

As for your exhaust question, im not sure i follow. I built evrything from the manifolds back. If you're referring to the muffler, that is a universal piece from Vibrant Performance.

Thank you. I run a small Automotive repair and fabrication shop.

The stainless mandrel bends are standard exhaust tubing thickness @ roughly .060.

As for the merge collector, yes. That was designed in-house specifically for this project and turned by my local machinist. We integrated the v-band flange into the merge as well.

how did you made the 4-1 adapter? out of one piece? then it would be unpayable :) if you let have done this. but if you have the right machines by your own then it is more hobby to do this?

Turbo-Joe, i can reproduce those collectors for about 500-550 a piece which is pretty much average rate for billet collectors.

Are the inboard exhaust tips inactive or unmuffled? Can see in your photos that the outboard exhaust tips are connected to the muffler outlets on the ends, and the four pipes from the engine go to your custom collector and to the muffler inlet, but can't figure out how the inboard tips are plumbed -- do you have a pic that shows their connections?

So as you can see here, the exhaust collects in the merge and flows up into the muffler which is basically a "T" internally. Naturally some of the high speed exhaust hits the ceiling inside of the muffler and wants to reverberate back towards the merge. Instead, the inboard tips act as a bypass allowing a small portion of the exhaust to freeflow past the muffler. I kinda drew a crappy picture to help illustrate.
