He couldn’t drive or didn’t want to race,, there’s no way a stock Alfetta 1.8 would beat a 328..120 Hp odd against 270 for the 328.. My 328 off the mark beats my brothers Maserati Gransport in 1st and 2nd gear, then he beats me.. l kept up with my mates 355 the same distance but when he hit 3rd he took off..
Had nothing to do with racing just overtaking when possible....and yes he was bloody hopeless,he'd put his boot into it..I'd stay with him..he'd get to safety and fu^&in' slow down as I was half way past the subject.!!
I don’t quite get the point,, if you overtake him when he’s doing 80kph and you do 100 of course you’re going to be faster, so are you saying that if the alfa you were driving was up against say a qv or a glass 308 it would have been a different result?
if we were on a street then yeah l would be in front,as Moretti would be pulled over on the side of the road by his favourite admirers
Well I’ve only been in a 308 gt4 Dino and they are just an incredible handling car I’d put one up against all your 308 line up all day [emoji12] Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Maurice,I could tell he was giving it a thongfull by the amount of crap coming out of his exhaust, the noise he was making going through the gears and the dip of his arse end when he floored it,I would then give it the same and was finding myself at worst keeping up. This trip has nothing to do with the performance of the other derivatives you mention 'cos the situation was what it was.
Well in my opinion there was something wrong with his car,if you were in a 308 then yeah the performance between the two is close enough, but 120 hp against 270 hp l just find it hard to believe that a 1800 alfetta would beat it..
It's not the cars, it's the drivers, and which one is more willing to come close to death... any guesses?
Having said all this l still don’t believe personally that the 328 is in the second lowest of the 3x8 series.. l don’t see much difference between 328 and the Qv,a few minor stying changes to the exterior and differences with the interior switching gear,, The A/C is better in the 328, the cooling system is better in the 328 as well as the 328 having ABS in some later models.. now as for the difference between injected 4 valve cars and carburetor cars, that’s a matter of personal choice,,a few of you on here with carby cars prefer them but me personally fuel injection is much better to live with,,l would love to do what Aircon has done with his car, individual throttle bodies with electronic fuel management is better than any carby set up on any 308,,leaving nostalgia out of it of course.. Also with all stock 308’s (excluding QV,s) there is always the worry of the sodium valve time bomb..
The Alfa is over 200kg's lighter than the 328...power to weight...,doesn't matter power only comparison.
Don't listen to these morons Don Maurizio, they don't know a bloody thing The 328 IS the most reliable Ferrari ...... I just never found one that could beat my QV
No way any stock Alfetta 1.8 /2.0 or 2.5 is as fast or as quick accelerating as a 328. A 2 litre Alfetta is a 16.5 sec 1/4 mile car, top speeed around 192 kmh. The 328 is 14.2 sec 1/4 mile car with a top speed of 260 kmh. The Ferrari has 138 kw/ ton, the Alfa 81 kw/ton power to weight ratio. The difference in performance is substantial, well outside the margin of error or differences in individual cars.
1. 308 Glass ( they are all GTB's ) 2. 328 GTB 3. 308 QV GTB 3. 308 GTB steel carb 4. 328 GTS 5. 308 QV GTS 5. 308 GTBi 2 valve injected 5. 308 GTSi 2 valve injected This is where I reckon the relative values lie. I'd be happy with either the 1st or the last of the series, ie number 1. or 2. in the list My view is the first of the series is the most pure expression of what the designer had in mind, the last is the most refined / developed / problem free
