The 308 QV / 328 with K-jetronic and electronic ignition is much less likley to run poorly than a carby equiped 308 with standard points iginition. There are simply less things to go wrong with K-jetronic compared to 4 carbies and it provides comparatively better mixture control to meet emissions ( which is why manufacturers abandoned carbies. It was pretty much the best system of the era and Merc, Porsche and BMW used it extensively.

That said my carb 308 with points runs great, doesn't foul plugs, starts easily and revs cleanly to the redline. Carby cars ran perfectly well when the left the factory in the 70's and if properly setup and functioning should run just as well in the present day.

I also prefer the small bumpers, chrome controls and gauges.
I dislike the orange gauges that Ferrari used in the 328

They gauges look great with the right interior. I’m lusting after museum black/black 328

 

Agree. The 328 had better suspension, slightly better cooling and aircon, and a bit more power. But I like the old style switches, gauges, dash, seats, door handles, bumpers, and front valence treatment in the 308. The QV has certainly been reliable, but I do prefer the induction noise, throttle response, and general mongrel of the carby cars.

 

They look soooo nice in Black......Just like the 360 IMO.....

Well after those nasty remarks from JM I’ve been up to the shed and surprisingly the 360 still has a big smile on her face, so I’ve promised to take her out tomorrow for some 98 and find a quiet spot to give it to her

 

Hopefully it's not raining up there like it is down here......

I actually think the 355 is a prettier car.
I also think a carbed 308 is probably still my pick. Just to light a few fires I think it’s interesting that PP has owned most of the desirable and exotic F cars and now owns a 308. That must say something!!
I see myself there in the future if I can still afford one
Power isn’t always the means to put a smile on your face!!!

 

Totally agree Kim.....I've got 90,000lbs of thrust on each engine when I go to work but I prefer driving my 308 2 valve HOS around......It would struggle to pull the skin off a rice pudding.....

I can’t use the power of the 360 on the street.
My brother is restoring a 74 911 and he is keeping the power down so he can wring it’s neck!!
I subscribe to that thinking, I’d rather flog the bejesus out of a slightly under powered car than back off after I’ve just hit 2nd.
Don’t get me wrong I love the 360 but if I’m honest I’d love a mint 308 I can hustle.
But for now I have a mint 360 and I’m good with that
