After having owned 2 beautiful V12s, I would like to move to something more of a 2+2 daily driver GT. The Cali appears to be the ideal car, assuming I want to stay in the Ferrari universe. My plan is to own it about 3 years and drive about 20,000 miles (30,000kms).

    Option 1 Early Cali
Pros: lower invest. "Only" about 30k USD of depreciation hit expected after 3 years.
Cons: Risk of looming DCT issues?

    Option 2 Cali 30
Pros: Lower risk of looming DCT issues?
Cons: Car more or less the same than early Calis, but depreciation hit likely to be 30-40k USD, because cars are newer.

    Option 3 Cali T
Pros: I like the design even better. Everything reportedly improved. No more DCT issues (Ok, I am sure there is the odd exception).
Cons: higher invest, depreciation hit expected to be 50k USD.

Of course, financials play a role, so I guess a specific point I would like to understand is if repair and maintenance on Option 1 and potentially Option 2 adding to depreciation might in the end come out similar to Option 3, where I expect little or no repair and maintenance.

Looking forward to reading your opinions!

If I were in your shoes, I'd get a Cali 30 with the Handling Speciale package. I think the NA Cali looks better than the T. Docile enough in Comfort/Auto for DD, and with 30 less kilos and 30 more horses than Gen I Cali's, you can switch to Sport/Paddle mode, pop the top & enjoy the twisty way home. The 30s are after 2012, so maintenance is already baked into the price. They're old enough so that depreciation is less than TS, albeit more than Gen I. Good luck in the hunt...T

Get a Cali T with Handling Speciale option. That is THE best used Cali.

And from some of the speculation threads the Cali t has the best chance of dropping in price once the portofino hits the streets. I’ve not ruled out the possibility of an early Cali t if the prices fall more in line with what I’m already considering. Currently I’m only really looking at cali30 cars as right now even with driving season premium is still the best prices I’ve seen on Cali 30’s yet. I’d say drive them and then decide. And having driven all 3 the cali 30 currently is the best bang for the buck and sounds the best.

First time posting and was in the exact same position, judging the merits of changing (by default - long story) from a series of Astons V12's that have a great soundtrack to my first F car which has a very different sound and feel.

After reading the many threads on here, youtube video reviews, I took my first drive in a Cali T HS and decided, that it’s such a big step change from the Aston, I didn't want to even look at a previous generation Cali 30.

Having had 3 Astons back to back, the tech and drive was very dated (similar to a gen 1 Cali from my personal opinion sitting in the car), but loved the emotion it evoked from start-up and was super easy to live with and made the best sound when pushing on. But the Cali T HS was more raw, firmer, sure footed, no body flex in comparison to what I have been used to, so I decided I wanted the newest car possible that I could afford, with all the latest in tech (compared to the Aston), that would keep me entertained and happy for the next few years.

I realise that there might be a bigger drop in the next few years compared to a previous gen Cali, but to me it’s worth the difference - to have the latest version that is up to date - and the fact that any drop in T will depress the 30 as well. And when it comes time to change to a pre-owned Porto or 488, the delta will be that much smaller as those prices come into reach.

Picking up my new T HS this Friday, fresh from the dealer after a detail and front ppf. 5 more sleeps. Its going to be a daily driver with mix of motorways, city and A roads. And even though I know it was more expensive than a 30, I don’t have any post signing thoughts of “did I choose the right one.”

I move from from Cali 30 to Cali T HS and that it's such a big step change too.
